RUNDALE PALACE
Arriving at Rundale Palace is a true “wow” moment as you may not expect to see such an 18th century gem in the Latvian countryside!
Most of the interior decorations were created between 1765 and 1768 when a sculptor from Berlin Johann Michael Graff, and Italian painters from St. Petersburg Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi worked at the palace.
BAUSKA CASTLE
Bauska Castle is the only castle in Latvia illustrating the expressions of renaissance and mannerism architecture and decorative arts in the Duchy of Courland
HILL OF CROSSES(LT)
Myth surrounds this unusual site of pilgrimage with no confirmed version of its story. For years, even centuries, visitors have placed crosses here, each for their own reason. The hill has been reborn numerous times after attempts to destroy it under Soviet rule.

Siauliu Rajono Turizmo Ir Verslo Informacijos Centras (hill Of Crosses)
Desecrated but never destroyed, set on fire but never burned down, the Hill of Crosses is a potent symbol of faith, hope, and freedom. And for pilgrims, it is another must-visit location in Lithuania. The Hill of Crosses near Šiauliai is a hill covered with thousands of wooden crosses. During the Soviet era, these crosses were removed by the authorities, but locals continuously replaced them. In 1993, Pope John Paul II prayed here, and he often mentioned the sacred site in his homilies and speeches. He later sent a crucifix to Lithuania which was placed on the hill, and today pilgrims begin and end their journeys at this location.

Overall great experience. Our guide Kristina took great care of us, made our trip memorable, shared knowledge about Latvia and the castles with us, made our journey comfortable. Only thing was contacting for tour rescheduling from afternoon to morning was vague, why put the options of travelling in afternoon in the first place if they were going to close late afternoon. Also the ticket always showed Hill of Crosses also which we neither booked nor intended to go.
