Excellent guide and trip spoiled by poor management and communications

3.00We booked a private trip for our group of six because we only had one day in La Paz and wanted to visit Lake Titicaca and learn a bit about local culture. Our guide Alvaro was excellent and provided a good experience, even though it was not one of the popular tours. The problem was with the tour agency "Joker Expedition". Without informing us, they arbitrarily decided to start the trip at 10 am instead of the 9 am time promised by Viator. Then they delayed another hour, supposedly due to traffic and car problems. Our impression was that Joker Expedition was not well organized and run. They failed to contact us about the revised start time, and waited until we contacted them about the delay. This was a very expensive trip, where an on-time start would have made all the difference. We don't recommend contracting with Joker Expedition in the future.

5.00Great communications and on time pick up, comfortable overnight buses and amazing tour of the train graveyard, cactus island, salt mine and the salt flats. Israel and Fernando we fantastic guides, loads of delicious food and information about the sites, even had a hotel and shower and rest in both before and after the salt plains. Would highly recommend :)
