Back in time to the years fighting against the American invasion
- Horror Highway: May 1, 1972, will never be forgotten by people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien provinces not because it is International Labor Day, but because of the horrible carnage on Vietnam Highway 1, the Horror Highway.
- Long Hung Church: one of the very few existing buildings remains in Quang Tri town during “Fire Summer” or Eastern Offensive in 1972. It is a National Relic in the town of Quang Tri Vietnam – BA5453.
- Quang Tri Ancient Citadel: is seen as an eye-witness of fierce battles during the anti-American resistance war in 1972.

Visiting places: - Highway of Horror: May 1, 1972 will never be forgotten by people in Quang Tri and Thua Thien provinces not because it is the International Labor Day, but because the horrible carnage on the Vietnam Highway 1 about ten kilometers south of Quang Tri City. Thousands of people were killed by artillery and infantry weapons in hours of shooting. - Long Hung Church: This church in Quang Tri, Vietnam fell victim to 8 continuous days of bombings by South Vietnamese and American troops during the Vietnam War. The church has remained untouched and basically remains as it was immediately after the bombings occurred.which was a battlefield in 1972 between North and South Vietnam for 81 days and nights. Quang Tri Ancient Citadel: is seen as an eye-witness of fierce battles during the anti-American resistance war in 1972. During the 81-day fighting, the citadel was almost destroyed by thousands of tons of bombs released by the US army. Nowadays, the citadel becomes a place to mark immortal victories of the Vietnamese army and people and to educate youths about the nation’s revolutionary tradition and its patriotism. - Doc Mieu Base: There's basically nothing left of this old American base save a rusting tank and a sign. Apparently this once formed the backbone of the "eagle eyes of america" electronic monitoring fence. - Ben Hai River – Hien Luong Bridge of DMZ: Vietnam's Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam.
Vinh Moc Tunnel
- Vinh Moc Tunnels and Tunnels Museum: The tunnels were built in three levels (12, 15 and 23 meters deep) and took thirteen months to complete. Three hundred people lived intermittently in the tunnels during 1966 to 1971. Sixty-two families made the tunnels their home and amazingly seventeen babies were born here and spent the first years of their lives underground.

An excellent trip. Our guide, Thuy (? Not sure if i've spelled it correctly!) was very knowledgable and explained a lot about the war in Vietnam. The supporting maps were helpful in understanding. I was a teenager at the time of the war & as the UK was not involved in this, most of what we heard was from the American perspective, so it was very interesting hearing about it from the Vietnamese perspective. Crossing the bridge in the DMZ was a n interesting experience. The complex of tunnels was amazing it was so huge & difficult to imagine how a group of villagers could create such a thing. The car was very comfortable & the driver very good. Many thanks, also, for the thoughtful packed lunch & souvenier water bottles.

Really interesting trip - Mr Loc was a great guide with lots of information about the DMZ and the Vietnam war. The Vinh Moc tunnels were good to experience despite the heat and the minibus was very comfortable.

Our guide, Mr. Loc was a southern Vietnamese war veteran who gave us a unique perspective on the later years of the war between the south and north. He was friendly and well informed. Mr. Loc gave us the best tour possible of the Vinh Moc tunnels and other points of interest. He ensured we were well ahead of the crowds. His driver drove safely and ensured our comfort. A small lunch and bottle of water was provided.

Prompt organised pick up and return smooth driving and logical progression of your north. 3 main sites fort bridge then tunnels. Able to get good sense of the background to each site why battles were fought why tunnels were built. The conditions the Vietnamese lived through were horrendous and they seem remarkably forgiving of the war being waged on them. The guide was helpful and of a high enough English standard for it not to be a barrier. The tunnels were small my son is 1.94m so just managed through. A million moved South across a single pedestrian bridge (and 250k North) in 3 months.
