What To Expect

This incredible tour either begins with pick-up from your hotel if you’ve chosen this option or with meeting our local hosts for the experience. The experience takes place in Gorno Draglishte village which is a place filled with history, tradition, and culture. You will be greeted by the energetic & cheerful babi (grandmothers). You will have the opportunity to participate in traditional local dances called horo, weave a razboi, and dress in traditional local nosii (folklore costumes). You will also make souvenirs which you can take and have 100% fun with this unique product. The many traditional local dishes will amaze you and you would experience the taste of the Bulgarian cuisine. You are also going to taste locally brewed rakia, which is a traditional Bulgarian alcoholic drink. This is an experience of a lifetime you cannot miss while in Bansko or the area. Choose between the 2 options – with or without transport and be fully flexible.

Absolutely great local experience diving deep with the locals, authentic dress up, authentic food, warm and welcome. Would come back for sure. That was really good!

We cannot say enough great things about this experience – it was truly one of the highlights of our trip!!! We were so fortunate to have Baba Yana as our main grannie – she is so full of life and so much fun! She chatted away in Bulgarian to us the whole time like we could understand her, laughing at her own jokes. I am smiling and chuckling to myself thinking about her while writing this review. Her lessons on the food prep and us helping with the food prep was so great. And THE FOOD – the food was spectacular!!! THE BEST Bulgarian food we had our entire 11-night stay in Bulgaria! And SO MUCH food – no way we could eat it all! Oh, and the Rakia was good, too. ;) Then we were dressed up in traditional Bulgarian clothing, and the grannies played the accordion and sang to us. It was such a special and heart-warming experience – we didn’t want to leave, and wanted to take Baba Yana home with us!!

Deshka rocks! Wonderful time, very unique! Never exprienced something like that. Full send to the grannies who showed us the local culture, food, traditions, we even get our hands on cooking and souvenirs making. Absolutely fantastic!!!
