The white sand beach where the first king, Hotu Matu'a, landed. A sacred place that was once a royal resort, guarded by the majestic moai of Ahu Nau Nau. History and paradise in one place.
Ahu Tongariki
The largest monument in Oceania, with 15 statues ranging from 6 to 10 meters tall and weighing over 40 tons each. Restored on a 100-meter-long rocky platform in a cemetery.

Thanks to Tokirau our time on Rapa Nui was an absolute delight. His depth of knowledge and genuine passion for the history and culture of the island are absolutely exceptional, enriched by personal stories from his own life as a local and a deep respect for the wisdom and traditions of his ancestors. Everything he shared felt meaningful, grounded, and alive. What truly set Tokirau apart was how thoughtfully he tailored the entire experience to us. Nothing felt rushed or scripted, he struck a beautiful balance between rich storytelling, insightful information, and allowing space to quietly absorb the power and spirit of the island. He also has a wonderful way of navigating the key sites so that we avoided the crowds, which made the experience feel even more special and intimate. Tokirau is charismatic, charming, thoughtful, and a genuine joy to spend time with. So much so that we decided to book another full day tour to see the remaining highlights of the island. Quite simply, we have never had a better tour guide - anywhere in the world. If you find yourself fortunate enough to be heading to Rapa Nui and have the chance to tour with Tokirau - take it! 5.00Our private guide for 3 separate trips was Tokirow. He picked us up promptly from our hotel on each occasion and was always very upbeat and a pleasure to be with. His knowledge of the island was comprehensive and we were taken to all of the sites on the agenda, plus other off the beaten track places that he wanted to share. Nothing was too much trouble for Tokirow and he recommended good eateries to us and took us to an excellent, top quality art gallery. Our abiding memory from our trip to Rapa Nui is the Sunrise Tour to Tongariki. We were taken to a special spot overlooking the moais, where we were serenaded with local songs from times gone by. Truly magical…. All in all, I believe that we struck gold by using this tour company…

All the atmosphere generated by the Tokerau Hey guide makes you really feel the connection to the island and its past. I would recommend it a thousand times, the best tour guide and company on the island 🗿☺️🏝️
