Full Day Tour with Lots of History

5.00Our tour guide was on time to pick-up my son and I for our tour of Pristina and Prizren. For the first couple of hours, the guide fully explained the history of the area in chronological order while he drove. The explanations given were very factual and articulate. The spots that we stopped along the way aligned with the historical narrative. I enjoy learning about the history and culture of places when I travel, so, of course, I found the explanations very interesting. However, my 14 year old son doesn't really enjoy the history so much; while my son didn't listen to every factual detail, he did enjoy the tour and appreciated the knowledge of the guide. Additionally, my son asked me many questions about the history the next day - so he was listening. Our guide stayed with us the entire day taking us for a snack and lunch (we paid in Euros). There was a lot of crowds and traffic due to the New Years holiday, but the guide expertly managed our time. We stopped when we needed to, and the guide accommodated our (small) requests as long as they fit within the schedule.

5.00Walking around and visiting the historical centers of Pristina and Prizen. Enjoyed learning about the cultural and religious histories of the cities and understanding the interaction between the Balkan counties. Liked being about to sit in a cafe to observe what was going on. The drive to Pristina including border passing took around 90 minutes. Afterwards, it was another hour to Pristina. I wish we had more to stroll the cobblestone streets of Pristina. Truly a hidden gem of the region. At times I had to remind myself this is not a Hollywood backlot tour - it was the real thing. The tour guide was by far one of the best I have ever had. Rich in historical knowledge, passionate about his country, and sense of the changes from the former Yugoslavia. You made the day.

2.00We felt rushed all day, saw things only very briefly before being hurried along, and even so, it was almost 10 hours. Except for lunchtime, there was never an opportunity for even a bathroom break! I think we would have enjoyed Prizren very much but we were only allowed a short time, less than 1/2 hour of
