Take your taste buds on a journey around Cantonese cuisine on an exclusive food tour of Guangzhou’s traditional old town. Food is one of Guangzhou’s main claims to fame, and your knowledgeable local guide introduces you to its top foodie haunts, from markets and restaurants to ancient side streets stuffed with food stalls. As you walk, learn trivia aplenty about the city’s culinary heritage, and make stops to sample goodies such as crispy chicken cookie, bamboo noodles, roasted duck, sesame paste and ginger milk curd.

Combined with sightseeing city tour with stops at various different scenic spots, historical sites, landmarks and highlights of old and new Guangzhou, this tour itinerary is highly flexible and could be customized based on your interest or special request. Hotel pick up/drop off and a private air-con vehicle with driver is included for this tour.

What To Expect

Lunch at a local "Tea House" restaurant to try the delicious traditional Cantonese dim sum, the famous local specialty in Guangzhou with local people, not touristy place. Learn about local table manner and tea etiquette and culture. The recommended signature dish is "Red Rice Roll with Shrimps", a great variety of different dim sum options are available and your guide could help you make proper selection for the food ordering based on your interest or special requirement(gluten free, Muslim halal or vegetarian). The cost for food of lunch is not included and it's on your extra expense based on how many and how much you order to eat.

Lychee Bay Scenic Area

Visit Xiguan Old House Community in the old town of Guangzhou to see "Wooden Sliding Door" and "Qilou" building, the traditional Cantonese private house architecture for noble families in early 20th century. Have a walk into the local neighbourhood and observe local people's life with Majong playing(table game), shuttlecock kicking activities. Visit Lychee Bay Park for beautiful lake and water channel structure with large Banyan trees scene and enjoy Cantonese opera show by local people singing, dressing up in traditional costume and playing with traditional Chinese musical instruments who entertain themselves for hobby and leisure everyday

Explored the Flower and Ram city in a day and had the most of our time in Guangzhou. Damon and our driver planned and executed the tour very well. We enjoyed all the food we tried, learned so much about the city and now have so much wonderful memories to treasure. Highly recommend this tour for Damon speaks very good English and is a true local who knows GZ very well.

We had a great time! Damon was really knowledgeable and took us to some really great, interesting places. It was hot out but Damon made sure we were comfortable with AC in the car and bottles of water.

Our food and city tour with our guide Damon was the absolute highlight of our trip to Guangzhou! He’s a native of the city and his knowledge and passion for its history, culture, (and most importantly its food), were truly exceptional. From the very beginning, Damon and his team were incredibly flexible and communicative. I was traveling with my older sibling, and we had slightly different interests and energy levels. Our guide listened carefully and crafted a perfectly balanced itinerary that satisfied both of us completely. We experienced the bustling energy of the Qingping market, had pure sugar cane juice and visited Bruce Lee’s father’s house and and even had time to watch the opera performance in the local park. What made the tour so special was our guide's ability to seamlessly blend the famous landmarks with hidden gems. I highly recommend this tour just given the guide’s knowledgeable approach and friendly outgoing energy!

This food tour has provided us with a chance to try the good food this city has to offer given the limited amount of time we have during our short stay in Guangzhou. Damon picked us up and took us on a really good trip around the city. He was really interesting and friendly and clearly loves the city he grew up in. We really enjoyed his passion for his city. If only all tours were as good as this. Absolutely five star and worth it for our short stopover.
