These San are the only Bushmen in Windhoek who share their ancient knowledge of the traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle. This guided tour will take you on a delightful two-hour walk, featuring a variety of stops to enrich your experience. It is designed to be easy and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. You will learn about the ancient wisdom of bush plants and how the San people use them for different purposes. Also, you will get an introduction into their Click-language, and they will show you how to read animal tracks. You will watch them making fire in a traditional way and they will dance for you. Learn how to make jewelleries out of the shell of ostrich eggs and get a better comprehension about their current life situation in Namibia. Through this activity the culture of the San can remain alive, and the younger generations can acquire nearly forgotten skills. The income from these activities provides the impoverished San with an opportunity to sustain themselves.

We greatly enjoyed meeting the San people, not an easy thing to do in Namibia. We learned about how they survive and thrive with nature providing all they traditionally needed. Everything from pickup to return was smooth. It was an excellent way to capture some video and photos of the San hunting, dancing and making jewellery.

Amazing experience. I really felt as though I was walking in the lives of the San people. I learnt so much. They were so welcoming and I was smiling ear to ear the whole way through. Thank you

This experience exceeded our expectations. It helped that there were just 2 of us so my hard of hearing husband was able to understand most of the conversations. The Bushmen telling their story seemed to be enjoying themselves as well as they told their stories in their own language with the guide assisting us in the interpretation.

This was a fabulous tour. The San People were welcoming, genuine & hilarious. Such amazing mimics. They won the hearts of the 14 in our group which included Swiss & Aussie nationals, adults & children of diverse ages, The San were able to explain their culture through mime using their unique language. The divide was diminished by the help of Philomen, a bushman who has been educated in the modern system, which much grace, & Nicole, originally from Germany, who has lived & worked here for 6 years. Respectful both ways.

The tour with SAM/ Bushmen was well put together and educational. Improve point was the transport from hotel to location. But that has been solved very well by the organization. They picked up top.

What a special experience this was. I knew some things about the San people, but so much came to life after spending about three hours with three San men and learning how they lived and survived. At the end of the walk they led us on, we met their children and one man's wife. The afternoon was a privilege but it was also fun. One thing I'll really remember is the laughter we all shared. Although we couldn't communicate directly, the pleasure of sharing their knowledge with us felt completely genuine. This is definitely a valuable and enjoyable tour to take when in Windhoek. This tour, which is connected to an NGO, also benefits those San who seek to travel from their homes and stay near the city for some time.
