The Old Man of Storr
Old Man of Storr – Isle of Skye’s Most Iconic Landmark Discover one of Scotland’s most photographed and instantly recognisable landscapes on this unforgettable visit to the Old Man of Storr. Towering pinnacles of ancient rock rise dramatically from the rugged Trotternish Ridge, creating a scene straight out of a fantasy film. Whether bathed in golden morning light, shrouded in mist, or dusted with snow, the Old Man of Storr offers spectacular photo opportunities at every turn. Standing beneath its towering spire, you’ll understand why it has captivated travellers, artists, and filmmakers for generations. Highlights: Hike to Skye’s most iconic natural landmark Enjoy panoramic views over the Sound of Raasay Perfect for photographers and nature lovers alike
Kilt Rock
Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls Perched high above the Sound of Raasay, Kilt Rock is one of the Isle of Skye’s most striking coastal features. Its towering cliffs are made up of vertical basalt columns and horizontal bands of sandstone, creating a pattern that resembles the pleats of a Scottish kilt — a breathtaking tribute to the island’s heritage carved by nature itself. From the viewing platform, you’ll also witness the spectacular Mealt Falls, a sheer cascade that plunges 60 metres directly into the sea below. Highlights: See the unique basalt cliffs of Kilt Rock, shaped like a tartan kilt Watch Mealt Falls tumble directly into the sea Take in sweeping coastal views and spot seabirds

We had a wonderful time, our guide was Ben, he took us to many interesting spots, he was very knowledgeable about the region . He brought us to places we didn’t even know about. He was very accommodating and stopped so we could have great coffee and take pictures of sheep’s and coos! We would highly recommend their services.

Dave and Calum took amazing care of us over our three days on Skye! Our full day tour was fabulous. Dave made sure to structure the day to our interests - he even brought his amazing pup, Harris, on our day tour when he heard we were missing our own dog at home! He took the time to make sure we were always happy, comfortable, safe, and well-caffeinated. Honestly, he treated us like family, all while showing us an amazing time around the beautiful Isle of Skye. I would HIGHLY recommend booking with Dave and his team if you have the opportunity. Thank you so much for showing us an amazing time!

An amazing day exploring the Isle of Skye. Ben was our guide. He was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were able to see all our must sees, and one less crowded, but beautiful spot. The tour was designed around us. We had an amazing time. Would highly recommend.

Five stars, no hesitation. David led our group of five on the 4-day Skye tour and exceeded every expectation. His knowledge of the area is impressive, his energy is infectious, and the itinerary hits all the right notes — stunning scenery, well-chosen stops, and smooth logistics from start to finish. What really set David apart was his flexibility and genuine care for his guests. When our group had different interests at one point, he arranged for some of us to visit Talisker Distillery while others took a scenic walk — everyone happy, no stress. On a last-minute request, he also organized a visit to a local potter on our way off the island, which turned out to be one of those unexpected highlights you don’t forget. Throughout the trip David kept us well looked after with snacks, beverages, and the occasional wee dram. Our days were packed with breathtaking scenery, wildlife sightings, fun, and adventure. From Castle Stalker and Eilean Donan on Day 1 to the Fairy Pools and the boat trip to Loch Coruisk, every day felt like a highlight. David is an excellent guide in every sense. Highly recommend David and Explore Skye Private Tours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our private Skye tour! Our guide Callum made sure we saw as many highlights as possible despite the filming of a movie that required him to shift some stops on the itinerary. And he took us to the most amazing cafe for lunch and thoughtfully provided hot tea, whisky samples, water, and snacks. A memorable day--highly recommend!

We had a great experience with Explore Skye as our private tour company. David was our guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and flexible. It was clear that he wanted us to have a great day. He gave us good advice on what not to miss. He personally took us on hikes up The Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Pools, among others. He had drinks and snacks available in the car, which was very helpful for making the most of our time. We were so impressed that we booked him for the next day as well! April is a little early in the season, but we were thrilled that there weren't huge crowds and the Isle was peaceful. We stayed at Kinloch Lodge, which was wonderful. Great food, service and the people were warm and welcoming. There was also a wonderful hiking trail on the property.

Just enjoyed a half day tour with our driver Calum in a very clean Volvo 4x4. We had the challenge of arriving Armadale and leaving from Kyle when there were no buses but engaging David’s firm meant we could turn a travel need into an adventure. Thank you all!

What an amazing tour! My husband, myself, and our 2 adult children were so looking forward to this. We had arranged all of the details with David and he let us know that Callum would be showing us around. Callum was great! He picked us up at our accommodation. We then went from Portree to Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls, hiked the Old Man of Storr (while it snowed!), went to another beautiful waterfall, hiked the Quarraing (with 60 mph winds!), hiked around the Fairy Glen, went to Dunvegan Castle (Callum showed us where we could see it even though it hadn’t opened for the season yet, which was awesome), hiked to the Fairy Pools, went to the Siglichan Bridge (where we all dipped our faces), and then returned to our accommodation in Portree. We saw so many beautiful sights and landmarks of Skye. Callum gave us tips on good photo spots, was wonderful, funny, and so nice! We all loved him! Even though it was very cold and windy in late March, Callum prevented it from raining all day! He’s a magician, lol! We were doing good on time, so I had asked if we had time for a few more things and Callum made it happen! It was a day I’ll never forget!

Joanna carefully curated our tour to reflect our needs and wants as we discovered our familial ties to Skye. Joanna’s knowledge and passion for the island was infectious and made the trip extra special. It was a privilege to visit areas of Skye untouched by the tourist trail. We can’t thank Joanna enough for making our visit to Skye one that we will hold onto forever.
