Really enjoyed this experience! If you prefer experiences where you ask questions, understand the culture, and be actively involved, this workshop is for you. You work with the 5 generation owner to find a kanji that represents you and actually carve the Hanko. At the end, I had my Hanko, a framed image of the kanji stamped when the Hanko, a bag for the stamp, ink, and a stamp pad. We enjoyed tea together, took some photos, and enjoyed each others company. At the end, I realized how challenging the carving is, the skill required, and his amazing artistry. The shop is in a small, beautiful alley right across from the station. I got there early and was able to do some shopping at the center next door. Heartfelt thanks to the whole crew! Thanks for the beautiful experience.

As soon as I arrived in Tokyo, Jupiter took us to Nakano so I could create my own hanko. I absolutely loved this experience in this authentic family shop, where five generations have continued this tradition. Shohei, with so much kindness and passion, guides you through the whole process of creating your own hanko. It is such a special and meaningful moment, and it will remain one of my favorite memories of my time in Tokyo. Thank you so much for this beautiful moment! Florence

This experience was unique, intimate and authentic. The master artisan, Shohei, has been hand crafting Hanko Seals his entire life and comes from a long line of craftsmen doing the same. We had a unique idea for our seals, and the team excitedly embraced our design. They guided us patiently through every step of the process and encouraged us along the way. The end result was handmade seals that we are very proud of. This is not a “tourist trap” or a spot to make kitschy souvenirs. This is the real deal. I would recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic Hanko seal.

Hands down, the making of my hanko seal was one of the highlights of my Japan trip. I can't recommend it enough. Shoei sensei and Jupiter were the best in helping me select the characters for my hanko. Shoei sensei did a good job teaching me how to carve my hanko and Jupiter was great in translating making sure there was no gap in understanding. Book this!!

My brother and I joined a hanko workshop and absolutely loved it! The instructor explained the cultural meaning clearly and guided us step by step. Carving my own seal was relaxing and meaningful. We also learned how to write our names in kanji with a Japanese brush. I also had the chance to meet people from different countries. Jupiter led the tour, and I couldn't be more grateful. He's such a great tour guide!
