Thank you Satsuki and the team at Hagoromoya for the most memorable experience from our time in Kyoto! Everything about the time we spent with them was exceptional. We booked the Meoto Plan and also included the additional outside photo option. I am so glad we added the Storefront shoot as these photos are incredible and really capture the beautiful location, which is in a prime spot. We have the most beautiful photos from the Storefront, Gion Shirakawa, and the beautiful shrine. We were dressed in the most gorgeous outfits and not a single detail was missed. Every care was taken to ensure that we both looked perfect at all times. All of the staff were so kind and professional, they guided us through the process and poses to get the best results. We were made feel so comfortable and relaxed. We even had printed photos available to take home with us that day, which I was not expecting! When our photos and videos from the session arrived, we were blown away at how perfect they were. I truly cannot recommend them enough, booking this experience was the best decision we made for our trip. We have memories to last a lifetime and will be proud to display the photos from our day at Hagoromoya in Gion. Wonderful people providing an absolutely incredible experience.

A fantastic experience where you can have a lot of input yourself. The clothes are great to wear and very beautiful. The pictures turned out great and I can't recommend anything better than renting this kimono and doing the photoshoot both inside and outside. The staff are great and know how to answer all your questions carefully. You can also ask for poses yourself and if you do an outdoor photoshoot you can also indicate the locations yourself (of course within walking distance haha)

I had the most extraordinary experience—truly feeling like traditional Japanese royalty for a day. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, with an incredible eye for detail that made every moment feel special. The photographer was so so friendly and wonderful, guiding me through each pose and ensuring every shot looked stunning. As a bonus, she even convinced my husband—who was hesitant at first—to join me for a photo. They were so warm and genuine that he happily gave in, and now we have a beautiful memory together. Everyone was so kind and welcoming that I’d love to return for this experience every time I visit Japan, just to see them again.

Awesome experience! Staff was so friendly, and knowledgeable with accurate dress, and poses. They made my wife and I feel right at home. We will 100% be doing this every visit to Japan. I can’t recommend this enough.

I had the opportunity to shoot colored uchikake, which I don't usually get a chance to wear! The staff were all kind, and I was able to dress up, make up and put on the wigs. He instructed me carefully about posing and so on, and I was able to shoot smoothly and happily! I was very happy to take so many wonderful photos! There are costumes other than Irouchikake, so I thought it would be great to take a picture of it as a memory of my trip to Kyoto ✨ I want to go again!!

It was an amazing experience. Everyone was so nice and offered to take photos of us with our phone at the end also. They offered a mini album for each of us and the photos were delivered very fast. Would recommend ❤️

We had an absolute great experience with the team of Hagoromoya. They were very skilled in getting us traditionally dressed in the kimono and yukata. The photographer was warm and nice, she knew how to make you comfortable in the picture. When necessary, she gave directions and tips to get the best poses. They all took the time for us and were genuinely trying to make it an enjoyable experience.

We had a wonderful photo shoot in Kyoto! The photographer and her team were incredibly friendly, devoted and very professional. Already at the reception we felt very welcome. We were particularly impressed by how attentively our wishes were received. Even the smallest details that were important to us were lovingly considered – this gave the shoot a very personal touch. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, resulting in very natural and beautiful photos. At the end we even got a great restaurant tip that rounded off our day perfectly. We can fully recommend this team – a real highlight of our trip to Kyoto! Arigatozaimasu!

If you're thinking of renting a kimono in Japan, be careful where you go. A lot of rental places offer yukata, which are actually the casual version of kimono. They’re cute, but kind of like the T-shirt and jeans of old Japan. This place was completely different. I wore a real, formal kimono that looked like something an actual Japanese noblewoman would have worn. They even had samurai-style armor for photos if you’re into that. The quality, the attention to detail, everything was on another level. The staff made the experience even better. The hair and makeup stylist reminded me of one of those sweet grandmas from anime. She was so kind, and at the same time incredibly skilled. She’s been doing traditional styling in Kyoto for over 20 years, and it really shows. The photographer was amazing too. She’s done over 40,000 wedding shoots, helped me with all my poses, made me laugh, and spoke great English. I’m usually pretty shy in front of the camera, but she made it feel so easy and fun. You can choose to shoot indoors with beautiful backgrounds or go outside for shots in the middle of Gion. I loved having both options, especially since the indoor studio had air conditioning, which was a lifesaver. I’ve done other kimono photoshoots before, but this was by far the most rewarding. It felt like I had stepped into a storybook version of Kyoto. If you’re looking for something more meaningful and immersive, this is the place to go.
