Shurijo Castle
Example Tour: Travel back to the Ryukyu Kingdom. Be mesmerized by the stunning Red Lacquered gates and curved stone walls. This castle is unique from the Traditional mainland Japan castles. Originally constructed in the late 1300s, the castle was built using rare Okinawan hardwoods, showcasing the craftsmanship and cultural pride of the era. For over 450 years, Shuri Castle served as the political, diplomatic, and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom, hosting royal ceremonies, foreign envoys, and governance that shaped Okinawa’s unique identity. Despite being destroyed multiple times by war and fire, the castle has been restored over five times, with each reconstruction honoring its original design. Restoration efforts have carefully preserved traditional tools, techniques, and materials, allowing visitors to experience the castle as it once stood.
Senagajima Island
Example Tour: Enjoy a relaxing seaside break at Senaga Island, famous for its scenic ocean views and Umikaji Terrace, a beautiful shopping and dining area. Savor a delicious Okinawan lunch with a budget of ¥3,000 per person at a restaurant with ocean views. Take a leisurely stroll along the seaside boardwalk, with airplanes flying low overhead, offering a unique view. Visit hot spring foot baths with a scenic ocean backdrop for a quick refresh.

Liz from Tasuki was a real pleasure to spend the day with. She drove my wife and I through a downpour all day and took us to amazing places. A glass blowing factory. A pottery museum. A great lunch and a fabulous market. We will return and request Liz and Tasuki again.

The three of us had the time of our lives with driver-guide Yuki Higa! He was extremely courteous, full of good energy, spoke and understood English and kept us safe, well taken care of as we laughed together all day long! The 7 hours flew by. We covered a lot of ground by visiting the Peace Memorial, Himeyuri nurse’s cave, the oldest shisa in Okinawa and the largest shisa in Okinawa. We enjoyed a buffet lunch at Jimmy’s, too. What an amazing experience filled with happy memories we’ll cherish for all our lifetimes! Huge thanks to Yuki who made it all possible and truly unforgettable with his adept driving, exceptional guide skills and genuine hospitality.

We didn’t know what to expect when booking a private tour of Okinawa but Yuki and Elisa both exceeded our expectations throughout the whole process. When Yuki first contacted me to set up the tour he asked for a general description of where we wanted to go. He pointed out a few things to help me revise our itinerary to make the day flow much better and spend enough quality time in each location. His suggestions helped us to plan a day that didn’t feel rushed and also allowed us to see a variety of sites. He met us promptly at our hotel with his assistant, Elisa, who also joined us on the tour. While Yuki drove, Elisa shared information about Okinawa and herself with us. Both Yuki and Elisa were so delightful, accommodating and fun to travel with. Both were fluent in English and seemed to really enjoy living in Okinawa. Yuki was also a great driver who kept within the speed limit and drove smoothly. They accompanied us to each of the sites and shared their knowledge with us as we walked through the Himeyuri Peace Museum, Okinawa Peace Memorial Park, Sefa Utaki and Senagajima Island. They treated us as if we were their guests and would share with us as we walked through each location. They even picked a perfect local spot for lunch where we were all able to order something to our liking. They were so kind that even though we were running a little late, they made sure to take us to Senagajima Island to get a few good photos and end our day with a nice memorable view. Elisa also surprised us and gave each of us a nicely wrapped goodie bag with some Okinawan treats for us to sample. What a thoughtful parting gift! I would highly recommend both Yuki and Elisa to anyone who is traveling to Okinawa in the future. Their customized tour was so much better than the bus tour we took the prior day because we got to visit all the sites we were interested in and we didn’t waste time picking up other customers. We all ended our day feeling that we learned a lot about Okinawa and had a greater appreciation for how much the people of Okinawa suffered through the war, and yet they were still so resilient. Thank you to Yuki and Elisa for being such excellent tour guides!

Our guide Elisa and driver Ken picked us up at the cruise ship port and took us on an amazing tour of Shurijo Castle and the royal gardens, followed by a leisurely lunch at Sui Donchi a traditional Japanese restaurant featuring Naha specialities. The food and the setting were absolutely perfect. We then had time to wander in the Kokusaidori shopping area before returning to the ship. It was a wonderful day and we learned a lot about the Ryukyu kingdom that was centered on Okinawa for 400 years before becoming part of Japan. Highly recommended.

Elisa and Yui were absolutely fantastic guides who gave us an unforgettable private tour around Okinawa! From the moment we met them, they were incredibly warm, easy to talk to, and full of energy – making the whole day feel fun and relaxed. What made this experience truly special was how they went beyond the usual sights to explain the secrets behind why Okinawans are known for living so long (think healthy traditional diets, active lifestyles, and that famous "ikigai" sense of purpose). They shared fascinating insights into Okinawan and Ryukyuan culture, from historical stories of the ancient kingdom to modern traditions, all tailored perfectly to what we were most interested in learning about. Their English was phenomenal – clear, fluent, and engaging – which made every explanation come alive. They were super understanding and flexible, adapting the itinerary to our pace and curiosities without missing a beat. If you're looking for an authentic, insightful, and enjoyable way to explore Okinawa, I can't recommend Elisa & Yui highly enough. This was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip – thank you for an awesome day! Highly recommend booking with them! Tommy & Jonea

A great way to spend an "excursion day" ashore! Wonderful tour guides covered a lot of territory without making it seem like a long drive. Met us at the dock, provided very good monologue enroute and excellent presentations at each site.
