As a certified historian, Renato is not only extremely knowledgeable about the history of Porto and Portugal (and a lot of other things), but he is a tremendous communicator and very personable. When he got to the gastronomical portion of the tour, his enthusiasm for the food of Portugal was contagious. As a bonus, following the tour, he sent us a comprehensive list of other things to do and places to eat in Porto. A private tour with Renato is absolutely worth every penny.

5.00Renato was wonderful & we saw so much in a short time thanks to his knowledge. He was very accommodating, tailoring our tour for level of walking & hill climbing we desired (coming off a long travel day) as well as how much history we wanted. His knowledge of the city & of Port (styles, age & vintners) was much appreciated. I’d highly recommend this service for anyone looking to maximize their time in Porto

5.00Our guide, Renato Miguel Tavares, was excellent. My wife and I had a terrific tour of Porto, filled with sights, intermixed with several food tasting experiences. Renato’s background and knowledge in history was very impressive and the stories he shared were very interesting. It was the perfect day of learning history, eating phenomenal food and wine, and visiting very historic sights. Highly recommend!

5.00We met Renato this morning for a walking tour of Porto. He was on time, professional and greeted my wife and I with a smile and even a bottle of water! After introductions he asked us what we would like to see and also gave us an overview of what he planned for us. He was extremely knowledgeable about Portugal history and shared much of it with us. All the while being accommodating and ensuring we were comfortable and happy with the details he was sharing. We walked all over the city and we talked wine, Porto, and its place in history. At the end he asked us if we were happy with the tour and sent us an email with additional suggestions for food, entertainment, shopping and additional places to stop in Porto. You should definitely ask for Renato if you are considering a walking tour of Porto. He’s a great guy!

5.00Renato was a perfect guide, with excellent English, a detailed knowledge of history, and a great interest in showing us wonderful eating opportunities and talking about wines and ports. We walked all through central Porto, saw many classic buildings, and collected insider tips and details the big tours don’t tell you. He also asked us what we liked and adjusted the tour to fit our interests, giving us options as we went along, totally customizing the experience. We wish we could have done more tours with Renato through other parts of the city as well, and we will do that when we return!
