Highlights of this half-day history walk include the Prague Castle Gardens including the dazzling Belvedere summer palace commissioned by Ferdinand I as a romantic present to his wife, the singing fountain cast from bell bronze, the Fig House and Orangery, where figs, almonds, oranges and lemons were grown for the first time in Central Europe and the grand Wallenstein Garden, with its albino peacocks, mannerist statues, grotto wall and mythical fountains.

In the Vrtba Garden, we climb some steep stairs to arrive at the upper terrace. Those with issue climbing may wish to wait below or to take a private tour that we can tailor to your group.

What To Expect
The Vrtba Garden
Walk through the unique Baroque garden to admire the original statuary and sculptural decor of early 1700's and enjoy the beauty and symbolism listed for its historic cultural values by UNESCO. Offers some of the most beuatiful views of Prague and the Prague Castle
Waldstein Garden
Admire the Wallenstein Palace Gardens build in the 1600's and presently open to the public as the gardens of the Senate of the Czech Republic. The Italian style garden includes an aviary, an artificial grotto, a sculptural gallery of mythological heroes and a fountain by Adrian de Vries.

5.00I live in Prague so this was a treat to play tourist in my own town. And I am so happy I did it, not only did I get the story of the gardens which I take a shortcut through (and quite some story) but I also saw a beautiful garden I did not even know existed. Add to that the in depth story of the not only the gardens but also Prague, which were told in an engaging, detailed and funny manner. And left me not only more appreciative of democracy but also even more proud of the city I call home. Highly recommend and would definitely go on another tour.

5.00I really learned so much on this tour - and I have lived in Prague for quite a long time! The gardens were perfect even in late October. I was transported with the descriptions of the lives of those who built these gardens (some hidden) 300, 400 and 500 years ago. Wonderful facts, quirky history, and mysteries unveiled. Lots of explanation around the meanings and placement of sculptures and frescos, as well as the gardens themselves. Did you know that grotto walls were intended to look grotesque? I won’t spoil the rest … A heart-filling experience that I would recommend to anyone who loves gardens and history.

5.00What a treat this was! A very intimate experience, where we were astounded by Bonita's knowledge and passion. She was able to tailor the tour to the needs of the group and we all learnt so much. I would highly recommend this experience if you like to delve beneath the superficial and to feel a real connection with historical Prague.

5.00This was a wonderful tour for my 85 year old mum and myself, Bonita met us in the hotel and we took the tram to the gardens. She is So knowledgeable and experienced in Prague, the history and insight she gave us was amazing! I would highly recommend for garden and history lovers!

5.00I don't usually leave reviews on Trip Advisor, although I travel plenty for pleasure and work. But Vadim was so wonderful and this tour was so educational, and so much better than anything I've ever experienced, that I have to say a little thank you. I spent 3 days in Prague as a long layover after a work trip in Africa. I called Insight Cities Prague (a family affair, run by Vadim and his wife) the day before or the day of the tour, with fingers crossed that they might show me the city on such a short notice. And they did! In the process, Vadim and I exchanged stories of growing up in Soviet Union and sharing the emigre experience. Vadim were providing immense history knowledge behind the city's architecture and its development in the 20th century and before, which I found fascinated. So if you're a history and architecture buff, you'll find these tours interesting. And as a young professional, I found it affordable as well. Thank you. I hope to have another Insight Cities experience if not in Prague, somewhere else!

5.00this tour was awesome!! If I could give more stars I would have!!! Bonita was absolutely knowledgable and we saw parts of Prague which we never would have seen.......heard stories and saw details we never would have seen....it was the best choice I could have made!!
