Nice day in Suzhou

5.00We had a wonderful day trip to Suzhou as a family of four. Our guide Caroline picked us up from the hotel, and we took a fast and comfortable bullet train—only 30 minutes! Panmen Gate was our favorite place. We climbed the old tower and took amazing photos. The whole area is full of history and very beautiful. We also visited Shantang Street and had a peaceful boat ride on the canal. Lunch was at a local restaurant with delicious Suzhou-style food. The rickshaw ride through the old streets was fun and gave us a feeling of the real China. At the end, we visited the famous Humble Administrator’s Garden. Caroline explained everything very clearly and with good energy. The whole tour was well-organized and totally worry-free. Suzhou is a beautiful ancient city—absolutely worth visiting!

She also shared helpful tips for the rest of our time in Shanghai. Alana, the tour operator was also great, reaching out beforehand, very communicative and helpful.. The trip was well planned, with private drivers always ready when needed, no time wasted. We visited several interesting spots and really enjoyed the experience.

5.00My boys and I had an amazing time touring Souzhou with our guide Xin! She not only speaks English fluently but had wonderful knowledge on the historical and cultural context of the different sites we were visiting. Not only did we have our guide Xin but her guide assistant, May, since I was roaming around with two kiddos. Even though it was one of the hottest days in July, Xin was very attentive and gave the boys and I handheld fans and bought us bubble tea drinks (which the boys really loved) to ensure we stay hydrated. The trip was well organized with a private driver (nice and cool in the car), a fun bullet train ride, boating on the Grand Canal, a rickshaw ride, visit to the silk museum (which is super interesting), a visit to Yuyuan garden. Hopefully I didn't miss anything! Being in China for the first time and taking the tour was super wonderful to experience. Thanks Xin and May!

Our guide, Caroline, was absolutely wonderful: super organized, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful in navigating both the historic sites and the summer heat. She kept the pace just right for our family and made sure we saw all the highlights without ever feeling rushed. One unexpected bonus was a visit to a local silk museum, which turned out to be a huge hit with our kids. They were fascinated by the weaving demonstrations and came away with a new appreciation for how silk is made. Lunch was also excellent, fresh, flavorful, and family-friendly. From start to finish, the day was well-coordinated and stress-free. If you’re traveling with young children and want a mix of culture, beauty, and comfort, this tour is a perfect choice.
