No gift shops, no restaurants, no long drives around the island in a van to visit areas you can explore on your own. No gimmicks and no frills - all of our time is spent exploring the amazing active volcanoes of Hawai'i island! We offer only active, education based explorations that focus on topics such as Geology, native flora and fauna, and the amazing Hawaiian culture that still thrives on the volcano today.

Our tours are family friendly, easy to book and leave our guests with a deepened understanding of the science and the culture of Kīlauea. See the best of the volcano with several moderate walks throughout the day. Our National Park tours allow guests the convenience of using their own vehicle as opposed to a large bus or van.

What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Your private tour starts at the historic Volcano House hotel, located inside the National Park. Walk to the steam vents and sulphur banks to feel the heat of the volcano coming out of the ground. Walk thru the native rainforest to the devastation trail. Explore the Chain of Craters road to find volcanic landscapes of the past and rare rock formations.

Explore a 500 year old lava tube with detailed discussion on how lava tubes are formed and the features inside. Walk thru a old growth native forest to get to the tube!

Jay was spectacular. His enthusiasm is unbeatable. We had a special day with Kilauea having an epic eruption event. He contacted us at 6 in the morning to suggest we get there as soon as we can (even though we weren’t supposed to meet him until 11) because there was likely to be a significant eruption. He was correct!!!! Most of the focus was on the eruption. Jay even brought a telescope and binoculars to better few this exciting time. Jay also taught us about Hawaiian traditions and the sacredness of the area we visited. He also shares a great deal about the flora. This guide company was recommended to us by our neighbors. It did not disappoint.

Erik was great! He was very knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour of the park along with insights into history, geology and flora/fauna. It was also interesting to learn about life on the island

This tour was the highlight of our 3-island Hawaii vacation and we were blessed to have Jay as our guide. His love of Hawaiian culture and nature are apparent and the insight he shared was invaluable. We would have missed so much had we toured the park on our own. We were particularly touched by his prayer chant to Pele when viewing Kilauea as it prepared for its eruption 4 days later. The Big Island now holds a special place in our heart in a way we never imagined.

We had the best experience today with Erik. lead guide for Kilauea Ecoguides. Erik was informative, fun, helpful and perfect with our kids. I had an easy time communicating via email with Malia before the experience and she was able to prepare us and answer any questions I had. The day of Erik was prompt, ready with visuals, headlamps and so much knowledge. Our experience at Volcano National park would have been much different without his expertise and humor. We’ve done tours all over the world with our kids and this experience was one of the best! His connection and knowledge of Hawaiian culture and traditions was invaluable and important to make this experience special.
Well worth the money.

Our guide, Erik, was a wealth of knowledge on the science of the volcanoes, unique facts about the Hawaiian cultural traditions and the native plants in the park. We spent our three hours hiking seeing the craters, lava tube and some of the Kīlauea Iki trail. The hiking was easy. We definitely came away with a much greater understanding of the unique landscape than we would have without a guide. It was well worth the $.

This was beyond a 5 Star experience. Chris was amazing. He had extensive knowledge of history, culture, volcanology, botany, and anything Hawaii. Our trip was changed for the better because of Chris. Learning about the volcanoes and history of Hawaiian culture was better than we had even hoped. Our trip to Hawaii was changed as Chris suggested some other places to add to our adventures. This Volcanoes Park tour gave us a better overall experience of Hawaii. AMAZING Eric & Rye

Tyson was awesome. He customized the tour for us and was super knowledgeable. People without guides kept wandering into our tour, which apparently happens a lot. Next time we'll hike in for sure.
