Citadel Fort Adelaide
Fort Adelaide (also known as La Citadelle) was built in a very strategic location on higher lands of Port Louis at 240 feet above sea level. The construction of Fort Adelaide started on 1832 and completed after almost ten years. Fort Adelaide offers a vast panorama on Port-Louis and its harbour. The British built this fortress in fear of a civil war from the remaining French settlers on the island and also for the purpose of guarding the harbor against enemy attacks. A ride uphill to Fort Adelaide, guarantee breathtaking view of Port Louis andof the mountain range surrounding Port Louis.

All transfers and trips were wonderful - a clean, spacious vehicle for the six of us that was always on time, excellent service and expert knowledge commentary from Abdul who is, quite simply, one of the best and most courteous drivers we have ever encountered on our travels. We communicated the desired duration as well as the places to visit, the driver was on time, he optimized our trip, he was very caring, offered us other things to see and try and the tour went very well. 5.00Everything was perfect! We were fortunate to have Kevin as our driver, who was a guide for us and shared a lot on the island. He took us to places we didn’t even plan to see, and shared his culture with us. It was even with a pinch in our heart that we left him on the last day. If you have trips to make on the island to discover it I recommend you take them. Who knows, if one day we come back, we'll come back through you. Our best wishes to Kevin. 4.00While less of a tour per se than private transportation around the island, this was a great way to see the main sites efficiently and with a flexible itinerary. We visited the citadel, Le Caudan waterfront and market in Port Louis, Pampelousses botanical garden, Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux...a full day that didn't feel at all rushed.
