Discover San Marino, the fifth smallest and arguably the most curious independent country in the world, added to the UNESCO Heritage List in 2008.
Meet your guide at a central location to explore the historical heart of San Marino, the oldest republic in Europe.
The Unesco historical center of the republic is a living museum and visited by millions of tourists from across the world.
Set off to walk along the narrow streets and cobbled alleys, passing through squares and around churches. Visit the Piazza della Libertà, the main square, with its Town Hall and Basilica of St. Marino, and head up to the medieval First Tower, rising from the top of the hill.
You will need to climb lots of steps up to the tower, but you’ll be rewarded with an extraordinary panoramic view of the Apennines Mountains and the Adriatic Sea from the top.
Despite its small size, San Marino also boasts thousands of stores and boutiques that make shopping here a real pleasure —especially as it’s tax-free.

Cava dei Balestrieri
The itinerary allows guests to appreciate the symbolic monuments of the Ancient Land of Liberty at their best. Strolling through the typical medieval streets, they will explore the Old Town, a Unesco World Heritage Site, starting from the ancient Saint Francis Gate, the main access to the City Walls, to reach Piazzetta del Titano, continuing to discover the characteristic Crossbowmen's Quarry.
Piazza della Liberta
Through art and tradition, you move on to the sight from Cantone Panoramico, to reach the heart of the City: Piazza della Libertà and Palazzo Pubblico (Liberty Square and the Public Palace), seat of the Republic's oldest institutions.

The tour was amazing, it is a great way to get to know the oldest country in the world. I'm glad we made a stop in San Marino. The guide was knowledgeable. We learned about it's history, how the country came to be, it's relations with Italy, it's current parliament, and how it celebrates annual holidays, etc. We took the cable car to the base of San Marino and the view was amazing, as was the view from the castle walls. We went in the fall, close to winter, so the sun was going down just as we're about to end the tour. The castle walls against the back drop of sunset made the Witches' Pass both beautiful and eerie. The local shop owners are also very friendly and restaurants are also very 'local', not overly decorated, not too fancy, gives a homey feel which is a nice break from all the tourist spots throughout our trip in Italy.

Great walking / history tour of the lower level of San Marino (our tour did not go up to the towers). Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history and current government structure of San Marino. These types of tours are a nice introduction to the city as they take you by the main sites. You can buy additional entry into any of the museums or art displays. Recommend this as a first stop when visiting San Marino!

Our guide was terrific, showing us facets of the country we would not have found on our own. Especially liked learning about San Marino's history and its current governing structure--2 presidents at the same time, each with veto power over the other!

San Marino is a wonderful destination, but most people don’t know that. I found its devotion to liberty, neutrality and independence moving. Our guide discussed the history of San Marino enthusiastically and knowledgeably. Based on our tour I’ll come back to San Marino to see and learn more.

Fujio was a terrific guide, very knowledgable and enthusiastic and experienced. I cannot imagine visiting San Marino without him as a guide, there's so much history and culture that would otherwise be easy to miss!
