The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace was constructed together with the founding of Bangkok in 1782 when King Rama 1 ascended to the throne and founded a new dynasty. The Grand Palace is very important as it used to be the palladium of the state. It was used for both the royal residence and the administrative center of the country in the government system of absolute monarchy. Today, the palace is used just for ceremonials. The architectural plan of this palace was almost identical in every detail to the Grand Palace of the former capital of Ayutthaya (about 600 years ago) because the King wanted to recreate the glory of the city as it was in the past. So it was completely first built in traditional Thai style. However, at various periods, the influences from other nations affect to the architecture in Thailand in different reigns such as the Chinese elements introduced by King Rama 3 in the early 19th century and the western building style introduced by King Rama 5 in the late 19th century.
Temple of the Emerald Buddha
The Emerald Buddha image, the most important Buddha image in Thailand is enshrined inside the ordination hall of the temple. The Emerald Buddha image wasn't cast from Emerald but was cast from high quality of green jade. We found the Buddha image in 1432. You come to Thailand, you should go and pray for your luck.

Me and my bestie had the best time. Puala is so bubbly and fun to hang out with. She helped us make sure our outfits were okay for the Palace (they are strict!). Wat Arun was our favorite part.

We had such a great time with Guide Da. She’s super friendly and kept the energy high all day. It was great hearing the little details about the Emerald Buddha that you'd usually miss. The Grand Palace is beautiful, and we really loved the vibe at the Reclining Buddha Temple. If you want a fun and relaxed tour, definitely ask for Da!

Poppy is great, she is knowledgeable, approachable, and easy to talk to. Accommodating to our needs and pace. This is a good amount of temple touring, recommend request for poppy if possible. Also book early in the morning to avoid high heat and the crowd.

We had a wonderful morning exploring the Grand Palace and Wat Pho with Ken. He is such a gentleman and was so incredibly patient with us, especially since we like to take our time looking at the architecture. His knowledge of Thai history is impressive, and he explained everything so clearly. We especially appreciated how he looked after us in the heat, always finding the best shaded spots to stand while he talked. The whole experience felt very personal and high-quality. If you want a guide who is thoughtful and knows his stuff inside out, Ken is your guy!

The Grand Palace is gorgeous, but it’s big! So glad we had Puala to lead the way. She was so friendly. The van was always ready for us at every point, which made moving between the Palace and the other temples so smooth and easy.

The temples were absolutely stunning, especially the Grand Palace. Wat Arun and Wat Pho were just as beautiful in their own way each place had its own unique charm and atmosphere. Ava was a fantastic guide who took great care of our group of friends and made everything feel easy and enjoyable. We truly had such a wonderful day together.

We accidentally left a camera bag at a cafe near the Grand Palace, and Poppy went above and beyond to call the shop and help us get it back while we were inside looking at the Emerald Buddha. She was so stressed for us, it was so kind! Aside from that, the tour was spectacular. The gold leaf on the temples is blinding in the sun—so beautiful. You must see the Temple of Dawn at least once in your life.
