We enjoyed the private tour very much as it was very informative on early life in Portugal. Carlos our guide was very knowledgeable and provided great insight on religious and cultural aspects of the two towns. We would recommend this tour and Carlos to anyone who want to visit some magnificent monuments in these two towns.

Jose was amazing! He picked us up at our hotel and began the tour with lots of interesting insights about Porto as we left the city. We learned so much about Portuguese culture and he and his family as well as about the sights he was showing us on the tour! We had toured with Carlos the day before and he had alerted Jose that my mom cannot walk long distances so he did his best to accommodate her so that she did not miss anything! He planned the day around her and what we wanted to see and we had a wonderful time!

2 years ago, we went with Carlos to Fatima and had a memorable experience (highly recommend) so when we found out we had a port day in Porto, we immediately contacted Carlos. He picked us up at the port and took us to Guimaraes where we explored the castle, the palace and city. Then we headed to Braga. We stopped to see the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro- both these places are not only beautiful but spiritual and peaceful. We then headed into Braga where we explored the town and Cathedral. Carlos made sure we saw every possible site while still getting us back to the port on time. We consider Carlos a friend and will definitely call him again if we get back in the area. His love of Braga and his faith made our day exceptional!

This was an excellent tour. Our guide Jose was the best, very knowledgeable, friendly and made sure we were comfortable and had an enjoyable experience. The van provided was brand new and very clean as well. I would recommend this to anyone considering a private tour.

Carlos was one of the best guides we have ever had. He was extremely informative and clearly was passionate about his country and it showed. If you are able to make the journey to Porto one day, please seek out Carlos. You will be very glad you did. Al & Ginny

Fabulous trip with Carlos as our guide! He readily changed the itenary to include churches and squares we wanted to see. He is very smart and knowledgeable about all the sites. He is also really considerate as after giving a tour of a site, he would go get the car and pick us up. He also was a great driver with a comfortable car. The cities are charming and very worthwhile to see.

Great cities to have seen. Interesting history and both are charming. Carlos readily changed our tour to include all the sites that I valued seeing and he knew so much about them. His English is fantastic, he is a great driver, got the car and brought it to after seeing sites, and he is very smart.

Great trip with a wonderful guide. She stood at our disposal - and found a wonderful dining place in Prague. I can only pass my best recommendations to Viator.

Cutting to the chase: we learned something new about each city and its historic sites that we had never had explained to us before. Two of us live in Portugal so that was saying a lot about Carlos. He planned our day carefully with a weather eye to maximize our comfort. We challenged him with our catlike ways of wandering and lingering in odd corners. We saw every item on the original itinerary. This is a tour that you should not miss. It was worth every penny. Details: Our day started with sprinkles as Carlos pulled up in vehicle a little early. The weather report had changed overnight. We four were the only clients and lived on the same block in Porto. His KIA seated the four of us nicely with cargo space for shoulder bags and cameras. There were bottles of water for each as well as hand sanitizer. As he pulled carefully and smoothly out, he explained that due to the expected rain in the afternoon we would visit Guimaraes first since it had fewer places under which we could take cover. The trip to Guimaraes went quickly as we watched cars stack up on the other side during rush hour into Porto. It was very interesting to see how the terrain changed as we proceeded northwards. During the drive, Carlos gave us insight into the history of Coimbra and some of the sights we were to see. We are not a shy bunch and peppered him with questions which he answered thoroughly. He took us to each of the locations on the itinerary and helped us find the ticket sellers. As we moved through each site, we sometimes had a designated guide and sometimes not. Carlos answered our questions as they popped up when there was no formal guide. We encountered heavy rain on the drive to Braga and Carlos, looking at the sky and his iPhone weather app, decided we would eat lunch in Braga after we saw the sites with the least rain coverage. This worked well. He continuously described what we were to see in Braga, why it was there and how its uses changed over time. Once again we peppered him with questions which he answered graciously and thoroughly. Then off to lunch which was Portuguese and delicious, meeting all of our party’s dietary restrictions. After a long lunch, we walked through some old town Braga including some lovely Praças and gardens. All too soon, so it seemed, it was time to leave for Porto.
