What To Expect
Mutianyu Great Wall
Hotel pick-up at your downtown hotel lobby. We will then drive directly to the Mutianyu Great Wall, famous for its stunning natural scenery—lush forests and vibrant landscapes that transform beautifully with each season. Located in Huairou District, northeast of Beijing, this section is approximately 75 kilometers from the city center. As one of the best‑preserved and most picturesque sections of the Great Wall, Mutianyu historically served as a vital northern defensive barrier protecting the capital. You may take the cable car up to the wall. You can choose to hike along the wall to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, or take the cable car down or Chairlift up and toboggan ride for a fun and memorable descent. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

5.00We booked a tour of the Great Wall with Jerry and had an amazing time. Jerry did a wonderful job of explaining the history and significance of the Great Wall. The wall itself is enraptured with so much beauty and Jerry ensured we didn’t miss anything. I would highly suggest booking a tour and exploring the Great Wall. Jerry was a pleasure to have as our tour guide and kept a great energy throughout the entire day. The Great Wall is a must see and would love to come back again!
Waste of money. Book a DiDi Premium Instead of a 30 year old van

1.00By far the biggest waste of money. You should just take a didi premium car instead. Picked up in a 30+ year old van that you won’t see being used by any didi/taxi. Guide talks a bit on the ride there, walks with you and point where to line up to go up the chair lift. Takes pictures for you in exactly 3 spots and then proceeds to tell your private group you have, 1-1.5hr free time. Points to the watch tower to climb and said to meet back in 1-1.5hrs. We had a 6 and 12 year old who were excited to toboggan down but he discouraged the option saying it will take 1.5-2hrs. Basically he wants to go home after spending a total of 15-30min of speaking time (my nerdy 12 year old asked if the Mongolians attacked this part of the wall, answer: they attacked all along the wall = no idea) and 3 pictures. He were adamant to line up, asked some Americans at the front of the line how long it took them, 45min. We ended up getting down in an hour and well worth once in a life time moment. Obviously he’s not happy about waiting and being on his phone like during our “free time”. He asked if wanted to have lunch, we said no, prob not happy for a cross selling oppy gone. 1.5hr drive back on the dinosaur of a van and he gets dropped off 15min before our hotel so he can go home via the subway. Very professional! Good thing we speak mandarin as that’s the only language the driver speaks. Trust me. Book a didi premium there and back, much better ride for 60USD RT. Buy the wall tickets yourself.

5.00This was an amazing tour of the Great Wall. Sally was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable! She took us to all of the best spots on the wall and took amazing photos of us along the wall. The pick up from our hotel was very easy and she was on time. Our experience was very seamless and Sally took care of everything when we got to the Wall. The total tour was about 6 hours including the driving. The toboggan was a lot of fun and was a perfect end to the experience. We took the first slot (7:30am from the hotel) and the Wall was not too busy even thought we went on a weekend.
No worries! Calling all Seniors! Do it when we can!

5.00No worries! Lilly tour took our passports, purchased all required tickets and provided hotel pickup and drop off. It made for an enjoyable, seemless day. We saved our anxiety and energy for the Great Wall walk! Lilly tour provided a private driver to pick us up and drive us to Mutianyu. It was a 1.5 hour drive. Shuel, our driver was very helpful to describe the locations we passed on the way. He recommended an excellent restaurant at the base of the cable car level for lunch. I highly recommend you book this excursion with Lily Tour.
