As an optional shore excursion during our 11-day Asian cruise with Norwegian Jewel in February 2024 my husband and I decided to go on this optional tour of the Water Village. In my opinion, it's not worth the extra money we paid for this optional tour. The rickety boardwalk was a nightmare! If you're a senior like me and my husband, you might feel uneasy too while walking these old planks of wood - the murky water is beneath you and if by chance, you fall, it would be a complete disaster! Who's going to save you from drowning? What if you can't swim well like me? There was no railing to prevent someone from falling into the water. The boardwalk was narrow and winding in some spots. The tea service with cookies in one of the residents' private home is not that great. Tea was lukewarm and served in glasses not tea cups. The hostess did not even talk to us while we were seated in their living area. I wonder if it was because she did not speak English or maybe they are not allowed to speak to tourists? Waste of our money! It would have been better had we just taken a bus tour to see water village from a distance - no need to get down from our bus!
