High above the village of Werfen, amid the magnificent mountain world of the Tennengebirge, we find the entrance to the world’s biggest explored labyrinth of ice caves, explore the panoramic view of Salzburg’s giant ice caves in Werfen on this truly unique journey. On our way back to Salzburg we will stop near the fascinating late gothic pilgrimage church of St. Nikolaus, to visit the beautiful Golling waterfalls, the falls plunge 75 metres down two giant steps into the valley below. The thunderous Golling falls are one of the provinces most attractive and romantic natural monuments.

5.00This was one of our highlights of our trip!! Michael Toth was a super fabulous driver/guide!! He was so friendly and full of information & history!!! We wish we would have had him for more tours!!!!! Be sure to dress very warm for the ice case and be prepared to hike up some steep hills!!! Oct is a perfect time to go :)

5.00It does involve lots of walking inside the caves as well as reaching to the caves. Total of 40 minutes plus the tram ride and 1000 steps inside.

5.00Luciano is the best! He was so knowledgeable and very funny to boot. Also hugely appreciate the organizers being flexible with our changing travel plans, a real class act. The tour itself was a lot of fun and one of the more unique experiences we’ve had. The hikes are very manageable and spaced out well, the stairs inside are also pretty easy as they take breaks every 5/10 mins. If you’re debating this tour book it, was a highlight of our trip!

5.00make sure you are fit, its a hard uphill walk followed by the cable car and another hard uphill walk then your at the ice caves and this is where you then get the stairs, and more stairs and more stairs, but its worth it for the views inside the caves and caverns and the views from outside over the valley

5.00Luciano, Luciano, Luciano!!!! Luciano was our guide and he was the BEST!!!! The caves, of course, were amazing. Highly Recommended experience but only with Luciano!! Luciano was knowledgable, entertaining, and helpful. He even recommended a Pizzeria and a dessert place that were delicious. Thank you Luciano!!!

5.00Carlos was a fantastic tour guide for our private tour to the ice caves and waterfall! He was personable, genuine, and easy to talk to. The caves and waterfall are both definitely worth seeing and will be something we remember for years to come. My only word of caution is that you should be in good physical health for the ice caves. The entry to the ice caves is 40 minutes of walking uphill, plus another 700 steps up once in the caves, all while at a higher altitude, so this tour is definitely not for everyone. However, for those who can make the trek, it is definitely worth it!

5.00The cave is incredible, but the hike is no joke. If you can’t walk up a steep hill for 40 minutes and 700 steps after that, you will have a hard time.
