When traveling by cruise, we always arrange a private tour/experience for our small group only. On this trip, we were a group of six ranging in age from 21 to 70. We travelled by taxi from our cruise terminal to the meeting place to start the paddle board experience. It was very easy and Hiro adjusted the starting time of our tour to allow us to get there. Our group ability ranged from complete beginners to confident paddlers and Hiro made the experience fun for all. The paddle board equipment was in excellent condition. Mid-way into the trip we stopped for a hot tea bread on the water edge. We also had spots to jump in and float in the current. Hiro took so many pictures and videos for us which he air dropped to our phones. After the trip, we went in Hiro’s van back to the start where his mum served us tea and snacks (she was so kind to us!), and then on to an incredible local lunch that Hiro arranged for us, and finally a stop at the hot springs, before Hiro dropped us back at our cruise port 45 minutes away. I cannot say enough how much we loved this day. Even though we only expected a 2h paddle board trip, Hiro ended up being our guide for the entire day. Easily one of our best days in Japan.

What an amazing day. Hiro (and his Mom!) made every effort for us having an great day of SUP (paddle boarding), and then suggested the most amazing lunch at a local fish place as well as a stop at hot springs. Honestly he couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great day. Our group had a lot of fun on the river and he certainly made it a day to remember. I cannot recommend this enough it was that good. For reference our group was from 20’s to 60+ years old.

Okay, so this was a really special day, all because Hiro is a wonderful, upbeat guide to the Kochi area’s natural beauty. Beginner at SUP here, and he was patient and encouraging, giving me the detailed instruction I needed. At the start, I was wobbly and hesitant. By the end, I was paddling around trees and into gentle rapids. And lucky me: we had time to stop by a natural hot springs resort where I soaked away my sore muscles in a woman’s-only pool with a view. This day is why I chose to visit Japan, and why I’ve used Viator for bookings. Hiro communicated well from the start of my booking until the end. Guides like Hiro make any travel experience worthwhile.

This was the best experience on our trip. We had so much fun. The guide was so kind and friendly and great at teaching us beginners. We also visited the waterfalls. This was 10/10 and a must do if you're in Kochi.

Stand-up paddleboarding was easily one of the best experiences in our trip to Japan. Even in the rain, the experience was incredibly peaceful and scenic. On the route, there were so many beautiful rocks, a rope swing, and misty mountains. The owner of the shop was amazing; he was very welcoming and went above and beyond to make our experience special. Even with the rain, he brought us hot tea to enjoy while and went out of his way to take so many photos and videos of us. All of the equipment was also well maintained and felt brand new. If you are visiting Kochi, this place is a must-visit. It's a beautiful and calming way to connect with nature, and the hospitality made it unforgettable.

Hiro is a hero! I had a fantastic day tour and this was a shore excursion from the cruise terminal in Kochi. Hiro was patient in teaching this beginner at the SUP experience. I was successful in the first exercises, and I ended up standing up on the paddleboard successfully floating through the river currents. What a blast! The one activity itself would have been perfect, but wait....there's more. We ventured out to Nakatsukeikoku Park which boasts rock formations dating bak 300 million years. Really gorgeous hike to a waterfall and "Indiana Jones" pathways. So much fun. Well lastly, we chose to get some lunch rather than bathing in the Japanese hot spring. Smart move! We went to a very local fish restaurant where the husband cooked the Bonita on a can filled with straw, charring the fish. Yum. Hiro was very responsive, and this was one fun day!

Totally fantastic morning on the water. Absolutely beautiful. The guide is super friendly, speaks great English, and is very accommodating. He takes a ton of photos for you as well, so no need to worry about bringing your phone onto the water. He'll pick you up from the nearby train station if you aren't planning on having a car. Was great for beginners (like me) but I think you can do more advanced stuff if you ask. He also has sunscreen if you need it (you will). Lastly, he recommended a great spot for lunch and an onsen after that, and both were great as well.
