Puerto Princesa City Baywalk Park
The Baywalk in Puerto Princesa is facing the Puerto Princesa Bay and is part of the tourist destination in the City. It is a place being frequented by the locals especially in the morning where they do their morning walks, exercises and jogging while enjoying the view of the bay facing the nearby mountains. In the afternoon, most restaurants and souvenir shops are open for locals and foreign guests. It is a good place to unwind.
Plaza Cuartel
The historical Plaza Cuartel is a restored ruin of an old garrison camp where Japanese soldiers burned down around 150 American prisoners of war in a tunnel found underneath the parks portal. The Plaza Cuartel nestled in the port area and adjacent to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Rizal Park.

The half-day city tour was an okay experience. Our tour coincided with a cruise ship docking at the port, so our tour got moved from a 7:30am pick up to 9:30am, and we were notified at 9:30pm the night before. I didn’t mind this too much since we could sleep in a bit more. However, because of this delay the tour itself was a bit rushed. For most stops (the plaza cuartel, immaculate conception cathedral, Baywalk, Mitra’s Ranch) we only had about 10 minutes to get out and take pictures. For other stops like Baker’s Hill and the Souvenir Market we were given 20 minutes. Because of the limited time, the only highlights for me were really Baker’s Hill and the souvenir market. I was interested in the activities at Mitra’s Ranch like the zip line and horse back riding but we were only given 10 minutes which didn’t allow us to go inside. Unless you are interested in other locations on the itinerary, I would recommend getting a taxi or tricycle to drive you to Baker’s Hill and the Souvenir Market so you are not rushed.
