I booked the same day and was pleasantly surprised to receive WhatsApp messages confirming all the details. I was the only person, and was very comfortable on the walk. He was very accommodating, answering all my questions, and made the walk interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend booking- you get quite a lot for the charge, especially when you end up having a private tour.

  • Started out great but lack of guidance toward the end

The tour started out great, interesting stories at Shaniwar Wada about how the place came to be and how it put Pune on the map. The places in the old city were interesting but I wish we had a bit more guidance on what to give those who watched the shoes at the temples. This was our first experience visiting a Temple in India, and we realized after that we likely blundered, but I feel the guide should be giving assistance in this way. The snacks and drink were both tasty but I was also surprised at how abrupt the tour ended and we weren't brought back to the start location where it was better to get a taxi, like it said in the description.

  • Insight into local history.

I signed up at the last minute, and there was some confusion about the start time. Koustubh ended up giving me 'private' tour. We had a lengthy discussion about the history surrounding the occupants of Shaniwar Wada, visited a couple temples, and noted a remnant of Portuguese architectural influence. We visited 'specially designed' house that headquartered the resistance to British occupation during the 1890s. I learned about the connection between the local popularity of Ganesha and the resistance. The tour doesn't go inside SW, but we discussed some architectural details viewable near the entrance. ( I also paid to go inside, but really there is not much to see as all the good stuff burned long ago. A great way to learn about Pune history.

Sankit the guide spoke clear English and knows a lot about all the history and religion behind the buildings and temples. He makes one at ease with the traditions. Loved the markets and temples. It is not touristy at all. Actually as westerner you become the attraction. A lovely walk and shopping in the market too.

Sankit is a good guide. His English is good and he knows a lot about the city. Religion Of the temples. The walk over the markets. I felt at ease eventhough you get a lot of attention as westerner. That is also a charm of the guided tour. Loved walking through the old streets.
