Krtiny
This is a very popular one day trip from Brno, the Czech Republic, which combines a bit of architecture in a small village Křtiny with a beautiful Baroque church. The village sits on the boundary of the Moravian Karst nature reserve. It's a tiny, tiny village with a HUGE Baroque church. It's actually shocking when you drive into the village and see this gigantic Baroque pilgrimage site, The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other buildings that make up this Premonstratensian monastery, positively dominating the landscape. You immediately know why its referred to as the "pearl of Moravia". There is also an ossuary below the church with twelve skulls with the letter "T" painted on them.
Moravian Karst
Then we visit the Moravian Karst full of caves, visit the Macocha abyss, the Punkva Cave, (OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND) where you will join an hour long guided tour in English of the cave. Make sure you bring warm clothes since the year round temperature is plus 6 C. At the end of the tour there is a nice surprise for you, but I am not telling you. Then we hop on cable car which will take us (only about a minute ride) to the top of the MACOCHA abyss where you can find some refreshment and enjoy the view to the bottom of the abyss, about 123 metres deep. Those who enjoy hiking, can walk back to the entrance of the cave (approx. 45 minutes) using the designated trail systém or we can get back using gondola and electric train. Then comes lunch where I usually order for the guests some typical Czech dishes – goulash, pork, snitzchel, accompanied by the local beer.

We had an amazing time with Helena and her super sweet and well behaved dog. Her driving was excellent and she could really hold great conversations and share so much knowledge about the sights and surrounding areas. The timing of everything was fantastic and seeing all these locations in one day was a highlight of our Central Europe trip. The abyss was beautiful seen from up high and down below. The boat ride through the Punkva Caves so much fun, but make sure you have your wits about you as you will have to lean and duck as your boat driver masterfully weaves the tight turns at a steady yet gentle pace. Pernstejn Castle was great to see from afar and then tour around in person. Highly recommend!

I'd start by saying that I absolutely loved our guide Hela. I think she went above and beyond that any other tour guides we have had in our many travel adventures. I loved the caves, which were a highlight. The drive was nice and the sights were great too, so too was the lunch. My issues with this tour are as follows: 1. First of all, this is not really a 'guided tour'. Hela simply drives us around to and from sites. At each site, you pay separately for a guided tour, which was made clear on the website. However, herein lies the first issue. All guided tours were in Czech, with no attempts made to engage other non-Czech speakers, except with a paper printout in a language of your choice at the castle. While this is fine for the caves, because you could easily get the gist of what you see here, this was not at all OK for the castle. The castle tour felt like a massive waste of time and did not always follow through with the very brief written description of each room that we received, yet this tour was quite lengthy. Had I known this in advance, I would not have opted to even visit the castle - it was such a waste of time. While pretty on the exterior, the interior leaves much to be desired and almost certainly did not merit the long time spent there. 2. The cost of this tour is PER PERSON, even though we all travel in the same van. As I said before, there is no real guided tour provided by Hela. The guided tours are at the site. In this regard, Hela's service was more akin to a transport service to and from the sites. Transport in the Czech Republic is very cheap and I can tell you that there were far more economical transport options available to get to the sites, even uber would've been better because you pay a fixed price per car, which you can divide between the number of passengers. In this regard - given that Hela does not actually provide a guided tour at the sites - I felt this tour to be overly expensive and more of a rip off, considering that you pay separately for each activity. 3. For a private 'guided' tour, the van was not clean at all and it did affect our allergies. The seats had dog hair and foot prints, which goes against any hygiene standards for basic transport. Given the cost of this tour, I'd at least expect a clean car, similar to standard expectations from uber services. Overall, I felt like this was a rip off and incidentally was the not best part of our trip to Brno, despite the beautiful sites we visited - it is indeed a regret. I took a long time to post this review, as I very much like Hela, but I am currently on another trip in North America and did private tours here for a fraction of the cost we paid for Hela's tour, yet I have experienced so much more. Given this, I was reminded yet again of the overly expensive trip we paid for in Brno. I, therefore, needed to share these thoughts.

This was a fabulous tour! We loved every minute of it! Highly recommend if you are ever in the area. We had so much fun and the restaurant we stopped at for lunch had the BEST food I think I have ever had. Plus the guide was amazing!

Helena was an excellent and experienced tour guide and she knows the area intimately. She speaks English very well and shared great information about the areas we visited. I highly recommend this tour as long as you can walk stairs for the tours. I felt very safe with her since we do not speak Czech.

Magic tour. The guide is in Czech, but no problem they give you a leaflet with perfect English translation and you can get a little bit of the intention, so it is well worth taking it. The part with the boat is fantastic. We also took the cable way up and down to the peak and it is wonderful. The restaurant on top very practical, reasonably priced and good like all the other places we have been to in the Czech Republic. We hope to come back with the whole family and grand children
