Qampa, also spelled Campa and Qampa, is the easiest, most popular mountain in Cusco and may be climbed without experience in mountaineering. It requires a glacier hike and sometimes a small rock climbing pass depending on the season. The summit offers a panoramic view that reaches to Salkantay over 200km to the NW.

Your tour guide will collect you from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 a.m.Afterwards, we drive towards Tinki, a small town located on the highway called Inter Oceanica, after 2,30 hours of driving. Here we have 30 minutes to stop to explore, take a breakfast, or buy some stuff that you could need on this tour. Then, we continue our drive to reach Pacchanta village at 4,060 m.Is this where we start our trek? 2 hours hike to Azulccocha, where we have lunch with stunning views of the snowcapped mountains around, and then continue our hike to reach our base camp at 4,680 meters above sea level. Once we arrive there, our tents will already be set up. We will have dinner and spend the first night there.

We wake up early, at 2:30 a.m. Enjoy our super breakfast and start the trek to the moraine. Here we climb up to reach the glacier, which is the beginning of the climb with our gear. Your high mountain guide will provide us all the gear and instructions; we will be climbing for about 2 hours to get to the summit of Qampa Mountain, 5,520 meters. There will be some steps. Once we get to the summit, you'll have breathtaking vistas and enjoy the peaks around you. After we've rested, we descend to the base camp, where we have our lunch. Then finally, we hike back to Pacchanta, where you will have the option to soak in the hot spring with a stunning view of Ausangate Mountain. Finally, in the afternoon, we take the bus to return to Cusco.

5.00I recently completed my first glacier mountaineering tour with ice climbing on Nevado Qampa, and I can honestly say it was the best trip I’ve ever made. The scenery was unexpectedly beautiful, and the level of service went over the top. A huge thank you to Guide Urbano, Chef Benigno, and Horse Driver Angel – they were incredible throughout the entire tour. The cuisine prepared by Benigno was outstanding, and the team’s support made everything manageable even though the altitude really impacted endurance. The trek itself was challenging but very well executed, and I felt completely safe under Urbano’s guidance. I had done 4 days of acclimation in Cusco before the climb, which helped a lot, though I would recommend even more time at higher altitude if possible. Despite a few mild headaches during and after the climb, the experience was absolutely worth it. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking for a first-class glacier mountaineering experience – it exceeded all my expectations!

5.00I had an amazing two-day mountain tour to Nevado Qampa in Peru. Everything was perfectly organized, and I experienced so much along the way. Our guide was knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure I felt safe and comfortable at all times. The landscapes were breathta-king, with stunning mountain peaks, deep valleys, and impressive glaciers that made the experience even more special. 5.00The meals were always a spectacle and tasted great Never had a shortage of water or food Extra duffel bags were carried by horses so you can over prepare Tents and sleeping bags were set up for you All we had to do was enjoy the hike and our experience Inspired me to do more multi day hikes

5.00Really nice experience. I was in Cusco for 6 weeks and this was my favorite tour that I did! The guides were very experienced and made me feel safe! The food was also really good and they made us a cake when we got back from the summit!! Such a fun adventure if you are looking to try mountaineering for the first time.

5.00We did the Qampa Climbing Tour and extended it to 3-days in total. It was an amazing adventure. The views were magnificent. The organization was perfect and everything on-time. Our guide Hector was great, explained us a lot of things and took care of our health condition. And the served food was very good. Remark: The 5.520m summit ascent was challenging and requires some degree of fitness, also given the altitude. To sum up: Definitely recommend it to everyone seeking their Peruvian mountain adventure!

You can count on his great professionalism, he knows the mountain perfectly and will help and support you throughout the ascent. I was able to experience a sporting challenge but also a cultural immersion. You will be lulled by the Andean stories and traditions told by the guide. If you are looking for a unique experience out of time do not hesitate!

5.00Excellent service, really professional and friendly. I really enjoyed the climbing with the crew of Vidal Expeditions. Flavio our mountain guide was incredible leading inexperienced people to the summit of Qampa mountain 5,520 meters. This was our first ascents over this altitude and we did not have lot of experience. However Flavio made the best job ever to got the summit even we were really slow on the last part. Vidal Expeditions team were awesome, very helpful and happy to share things with us, Miguel our cook was excellent always providing 3 dishe on each meal. Angel and Mario were nice too taking care all our luggages. We really appreciate what they did for us on these two day climbing. I definitely recommend Vidal Expeditions and Flavio.

5.00Qampa climb!! We had 2 incredible days hiking and climbing Qampa mountain around the Ausangate, we were only 2 people who decide to climb this mountain with 5,520m and took the service of Vidal Expeditions. They were great answering our emails and Vidal the owner provide us every details of this trip, our mountain guide was Urbano (Aka Chino) who made even better this two days trip, we hike and visited the 7 lakes on the first day, and he took incredible photos. The second day we woke up super early in order to reach the summit early morning to see the sunrise, after a few hours hike and climb we finally got the summit and got incredible views. Whole team were great for this adventure and I definitely recomment this climb for everyone who wants to experience climbing a mountain over 5,500m. and ask for Chino then you will thanks me later.
