What To Expect

Ramon Crater

Start your morning or evening tour from Mitzpe Ramon and head down the road 40 to the depths of the crater. Leave the paved road and climb up on a 4×4 trail to the most amazing observation point at Mt. Gvanim. From that point you will have a panoramic view, 360 degrees and see the whole dimension of the crater with its' beautiful colors and shapes. Next, continue driving on 4×4 trails to Wadi Zochalim (reptiles valley) and cross the road to wadi Gvanim. You will stop under the shade of the Acacia trees and get to know the desert world of plants and wildlife. Next drive across the crater on the pipeline road, visit Beerot campground for refreshment and next we will visit one of the rehabilitated Quarries. You will then be taken back to the highway and drive back to Mitzpe Ramon.

We booked a sunset tour of the crater with Eyal. It was the highlight of our trip here. He is so friendly and warm. We enjoyed every minute as he explained everything we needed to know about the formation and plant and animal life in the crater. We saw so many different parts and angles in the crater. The highlight was the incredible sunset view. He was very patient and knows so much. Highly recommend Eyal! Thanks for a awesome afternoon

The guide was very friendly .he took a lot of time to describe to us the geology and botany as well as the complex geography of the many Machteshs. He was a very experienced land rover driver and worried about our comfort. His name Eyal

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Eyal! We had 2 hours tour on a very hot day, my father in law had a hard time walking, so for us driving in a jeep worked perfectly. We learned so much, and Eyal was answering all our questions. We are glad he was available in a very short notice, and would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see this unique place, and learn about it's history.

Noam was a fantastic guide, explaining history, geology, topography & entomology of the area. At times the off reading was scary but Noam always knew what he was doing and where he was going, even if we felt nervous! Loved it!

Eyal was an amazing tour guide. He was patient and knowledgable about many things in the area. I love that there were some many options for tours and he really customized the tour for US. We chose the 4 hour jeep tour around the Ramon Crater. Since my parents don’t walk so well, long hikes were out of the question and finding a good jeep tour was important. Eyal took us to many different spots around the crater, teaching us about the flora and fauna and the geology. He also gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip. We really enjoyed it and would recommend these tours.

With Eyal we had a very friendly and competent guide who told us a lot about the crater and its formation. Every now and then we got out and walked to interesting places. Experience the desert so close up was an unforgettable experience!

Eyal's tour was a great overview of the crater and took us to so many more places than one could see on foot. Some were seemingly not accessible by vehicle, but Eyal's skills navigating his Land Rover over terrain were amazing. He was knowledgeable about the environment, history, geology. That plus his laid back style made the 4 hour tour a memorable experience. Highly recommended.
