Start with a slow-paced walk around the center of Reykjavik, led by your in-character guide – an Entertainment Service Officer out here to entertain the troops – and you.
Using historical film and images, go back in time to understand why the Nazis were so obsessed with Iceland, why the British decided to invade, why the Americans followed, and what happened to Icelandic culture through the foreign influence.
Then drive to ruined fortifications before heading out to The War & Peace Museum, set on the banks of the stunning Hvalfjordur (Whale fjord), the most important harbor in the North Atlantic during WW2.
Afterwards, take in the incredible landscape as you view sites like the oldest still in use quonset hut (1942 American barracks), and the ruined bases of Hvammsvik and Hvitanes, before heading back to Reykjavik.

5.00A fabulous tour! We had a wonderful day learning about Iceland and its involvement in World WarII. We met many interesting Icelanders and learned a lot about the beautiful island. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the war and Iceland’s role in it. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore an unseen side of Iceland.

5.00Such an enjoyable tour! My guide Lucky knows so many interesting stories to tell and places to show you. Even better is the fact that she really knows how to bring it in an enthusiastic way, what things really keep entertaining. You can tell she has a great passion for the subject and keeping you entertained. The oranges she handed out were delicious as well. Ask her anything, and she immediately knows. In case I go back to Iceland, I would defintely book a trip with her again!

5.00Our experience with the WWII History Tour in Reykjavik was absolutely incredible! Our guide delivered the history with tremendous enthusiasm and knowledge that truly brought the era to life. Even though I have been to Iceland before, this experience was something truly unique and greatly enhanced our understanding and admiration for the history and culture of the island. Thanks to our amazing guide for a memorable experience! 10/10 recommend! Pros: - Enthusiastic guide who possesses a lot of historical knowledge from WWII - Charismatic and intellectual guide - Good pricing - The guide's native language is English Cons: - Bring warm clothes, even if it is in the summer!
