We had a delightful day. Collins met us at our hotel right on time and was friendly and shared a ton of interesting information about South Africa. He was also really funny and engaging. The park was amazing! We were so close to the animals! We also had time to go to the Wonder Caves and I was completely blown away. I highly recommend this outstanding opportunity to spend half a day with Collins (if you are lucky enough to get him as your guide) experiencing South Africa up close and personal.

We began our tour with the Hippo Walk, where we saw various animals such as hippos, tigers, and warthogs. Then, we drove through the park searching for the different wildlife. While we saw many different species while driving through on our own, many of the animals were lying in the shade because it was so hot that day. The highlight of the day for me was when it became feeding time. All of the vehicles at the park followed the food truck. The first stop was the brown lions. They were majestic in their stride, and just over all beautiful. Next, they fed the African Wild Dogs. These are a lot like hyenas, and they were everywhere! Finally, it was feeding time for the cheetahs. Unfortunately, we only saw one cheetah, but it was beautiful. Overall, it was a great time, and for a first time visitor to South Africa, I thought it was a good park. I was staying in South Africa with friends who are local to the area, and they said to get the best experience, we needed to travel to Krueger National Park, but it was too long of a drive. When I visit Centurion again, I’d go back to this park again.

Top organization, flexibility in adapting schedule and pick-up location and my guide Banele was very nice and knowledgeable about the country, and the fauna ! Great choice for those having only 1/2 day to experience a mini safari around Jo’Burg Franck

Within an acceptable time, you can visit a reserve that offers close encounters with a variety of wildlife. The predators are kept separate and well-fed to avoid any issues in the reserve. It's a wonderful experience to explore the reserve in an open safari vehicle. I chose to visit the Cradle of Humankind instead of the caves, even though the caves were also very interesting to see. I wanted to learn more about where and how humankind began. My guide, Thabang, was absolutely amazing and very helpful.

We loved it. Bothongo rhino and lion is perfect for family with young kids. We traveled with our two daughters of 1 and 3 years old. The park has a lot of facilities, big playgrounds with swimming pool, snake show... It is easy to spot animals and we can be very close to Lions and Rhinos. We saw a Rhino mum with her baby. We stayed 5 nights in a Log Cabin with a jacuzzi and it was perfect. We loved it soon much. We can recommend 100% but it's good to know that you shouldn't expect a great hospitality service. It seems that the management is not focused on hospitality. The staff is not very helpful and does not explain what is open/ close, a must do... So you will see a lot of restaurants close. (they say because of load shedding but we believe it's more for other reasons). The weekends is more busy. The food was not great except at Neck and Deck restaurant. Everything closes at 4pm even the restaurants and coffee so plan to have your groceries done of you stay long. Don't expect great service of hospitality, just enjoy the wildlife and the facilities when they are open and you will have a wonderful stay.

My family and I recently booked Stephenson Adventures during our visit to Johannesburg to visit Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve. Due to our concerns with going on a game drive in an open vehicle with young children, we were originally going to rent a car and do a self-driven safari through the park, but the night before our adventure, we changed our minds and decided to book a tour with Stephenson Adventures instead, and it turned out to be the best decision! It was great to have our knowledgable guides, Gregory and Stephen, pick us up from our hotel and drive us to the reserve while providing interesting details regarding South Africa's history and current events. They drove our group of 10 (including 3 kids) through the nature reserve and shared info about the animals we saw, and we felt safe and comfortable in a single vehicle that fit all of us and that was safely enclosed. Although we were in an enclosed van, we were still able to capture excellent footage of predator feedings and wild animals doing what wild animals do. After driving through the reserve, Gregory and Stephen took us to an area of the park where certain animals are kept in caged enclosures so we could witness them being fed as well. During our day together, Gregory and Stephen also took us to check out the Reptile Center and to Neck & Deck restaurant where some of us had the chance to feed a giraffe. After our excursion, we were dropped back off at our hotel in Johannesburg. It was great to not have to deal with the stress of renting a car and driving ourselves as we'd originally planned on doing. Overall, Gregory and Stephen were very punctual, accommodating, knowledgable and professional. It also felt good knowing that we were supporting a local business. I definitely wouldn't hesitate booking a tour with Stephenson Adventures again!

My family and I, 7 adults and 3 children visited Cape Town and Johannesburg recently. During our final day in Johannesburg, we visited the Rhino & Lion Park with Gregory and Steven as our guides. Both of them were superb guides. Gregory informed us about South Africa’s history which was so informative. We learned so many facts that we were unaware of. When we arrived at the Reserve, Steven drove around, pointing out many animals. He parked often close by the white lions while they were feeding. He knew a lot about the predators, rhinos, hippos, cheetahs, and more. He was a great guide, allowing us time to visit all the exhibits. Honestly, we were happy that they were available to take us at short notice. We traveled in an enclosed, air conditioned van which was comfortable. I didn’t want to travel in an open vehicle. I will recommend Gregory and Steven of Stephenson Adventures whenever possible. Cheryl Myles

This was a short but very nice trip to the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve from Johannesburg. Stephenson is a very competent guide, and can give you quite a bit of back-ground to history and culture. As some of the sights in the park are only reachable by dirt road, it pays to have an experienced driver at the wheel.

Had a wonderful time with Stephenson, he was a very nice guide and made our day smooth and easy at Rhino & Lion. We had interesting discussions about South Africa, he was open-minded and very friendly, and eager to accommodate our needs and to respect the slightly tight schedule :)
