What To Expect

Rila Monastery

9:00 Departure from Sofia. 11:00 Arrival at the Rila Monastery (World Heritage Site) and visit the largest and most important religious complex in Bulgaria and the Balkan countries. Our guide will introduce you to the thousand-year history of the monastery and show you the splendid frescoes, the work of the Samokov School and the iconographer Zafari Zograf. You can also visit the Museum, full of religious objects, in which perhaps the most precious object is the wooden Corse, carved by the monk Raffaele. 12:00 Free time for lunch for one hour. 1.00pm Departure for Sofia. 3.00pm Arrival.
