The Hāna Highway is a 64.4-mile long stretch of spectacular views of rainforest, waterfalls, beaches and coastline. On the east after Kalepa Bridge, the highway continues to Kīpahulu on the Piilani Highway. Although Hāna is only about 52 miles from Kahului, it takes about 2.5 hours to drive when no stops are made as the highway is very winding and narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one lane wide. There are approximately 620 curves along Route 360 from just east of Kahului to Hāna, virtually all of it through lush, tropical rainforest. Many of the concrete and steel bridges date back to 1910 and all but one are still in use. This full-day trip to the Hana coast has the best scenic drive along the shorelines of Maui.

Highly recommend taking a guided tour for this trip. Lepa was awesome and provided the history and stories along the way. You can take this drive on your own but we felt having Lepa provided knowledge and history of the island and Hana that we would have missed out on. Thank you Lepa for the amazing trip and sharing your family’s personal history made the trip more enjoyable.

We had a wonderful time on this experience. There was great communication throughout the whole time from the moment we booked the tour. Kristie contacted us to let us know she was on her way to pick us up. We then met everyone else at the meeting place. Our tour guide Lepa was phenomenal. She shared many stories and knew everyone along the way. It felt like we were with family! We highly recommend this tour!

Very informative and fun… Adventurous and exciting. Prepared to see several cats at Black Sand Beach upon the entrance. Be sure you have cell phone service because it’s limited up the hill.
