The road to Hana was a great trip. At first I wasn’t all that sure about our guide because he did talk a lot and call on us by name. But I soon figured Travis out. He asked us questions and talked a lot to keep us from getting sick. The day was amazing! We had a nice continental breakfast, great little stops along the way, swam at the black sand beach and explored the cave with the Shaka, saw the red sand beach, had a hot lunch, swam at a waterfalls, and stopped to see the turtles. Travis was great in that he helped us navigate through the swim at the waterfalls. Not all of the guides did this. It was such a full day but worth it. Only one person got a little sick at the very end of the day but did not throw up. It was by far one of the highlights to our trip to Maui! A must for your bucket list!

We had an amazing experience on the Road to Hana tour! Our guide, Travis, was authentic, knowledgeable, and truly made the day unforgettable. He shared local insights, fascinating history, and stories that gave us a real feel for the island beyond the typical sightseeing. The vehicle was roomy, comfortable, and well-air-conditioned — perfect for the long scenic drive. We loved the mix of stops, including delicious food, refreshing swims, and breathtaking waterfalls. This isn’t just a tour — it’s an immersive journey that showed us the heart of this incredible island. This felt like a personal tour and if you are keen to understand Maui and the Road to Hanna from a well informed, articulate, true local with an awesome local lunch included this is hard to beat and pretty easy decision, highly recommend you swim @ the black sand beach and beautiful waterfall if you can.. from our family of four.. thankyou Travis.

Pick up was a bit rocky to start due to some delays picking up the couple before us. But once we got picked up we were taken to the beautiful Maui Tropical Plantation for a quick continental breakfast. Then we met our guide Travis and boarded the van. All seats in the van are preassigned based on pick up time and we were the last to be picked up so we got the row in the back. We were skeptical at first but it turns out ALL seats in the van are good seats due to the large picture windows. I started the trip off feeling a bit grouchy due to this but within a short span of time felt joyous and grateful. Now on to the trip itself! Travis began the trip with teaching us Hawaiian words and really set the tone for the entire trip. He is a true expert on the tour as he is a native to Hāna and knew most people on the route as family or friends. He told wonderful stories and knew each and every waterfall we encountered having a personal history with many of them. He deftly wove in true Hawaiian history that everyone should learn. The tour was a long day with beautiful sights but easy because we were blessed enough to sit back and enjoy. Restroom stops are frequent (thankfully). Lunch was a delicious hot meal that was included. In addition there were plenty of stops at stands that sold snacks and BANANA BREAD!!!! I don’t know why but I’ve never been so excited about banana bread until this trip. We made 2 one-hour stops for swimming: a beautiful black sand beach and a waterfall. There was adequate time at each stop and we didn’t feel rushed. Our guide even got in the water to help us cross safely over to the waterfall. I’m glad he did because all of us felt nervous with the slippery rocks and uneven terrain. Travis had us all feeling like family by the mid point of trip. He checked on each individual to make sure they were feeling safe and having a wonderful time. He even had ALL OF US singing on the van at every waterfall sighting. AND we got a bonus surprise at the very end…sea turtle viewing!!!!! If you are lucky enough to get Travis as your guide you are guaranteed your most exciting and relaxing adventure on Maui. Yes exciting and relaxing can coexist on a tour like this. Your only job is to show up, be on time and enjoy, since your guide takes care of all the logistics. I’ve heard the road to Hāna is a difficult drive but Travis made it seem deceptively smooth as I didn’t experience my usual motion sickness even sitting in the back. Husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating our 20 yr anniversary that day on the road to Hāna. Thank you Travis and Valley Isle Excursions for such a perfect day. We are already eyeing the Haleakala sunrise tour for our next visit.

Derek provided an unforgettable, wonderful trip to Hana. It wasn't about Hana as much as the ROAD to Hana and all the waterfalls, beautiful beaches, history of the island, language, caves, etc. He was a great driver and very informative. We ate a delicious lunch and had several little stops along the way where we bought shaved ice, banana bread and coffee, souvenirs and took lots of pictures. Request Derek! He's great!

Absolutely amazing experience!! So glad we didn’t have to drive it ourselves. We had Paula as a tour guide, and she was great! Delicious breakfast and lunch. The best tour I’ve ever done!
