Bisbee, Arizona, once a booming mining town, is a hidden gem for rockhounding enthusiasts. Nestled in the Mule Mountains, this historic town is renowned for its rich mineral deposits, offering visitors a unique opportunity to uncover a variety of beautiful and rare specimens. Known primarily for its copper mining history, Bisbee also holds a treasure trove of minerals such as malachite, azurite, and turquoise, which can still be found in the surrounding hills and tailings left behind from mining operations. For rockhounding enthusiasts, Old Bisbee presents a rare chance to explore both its scenic beauty and geological wonders. Whether you’re an experienced collector or a beginner, there’s something for everyone. The region’s colorful rocks and minerals are not only beautiful but also historically significant, with many specimens found in Bisbee displayed in museums worldwide. Found and got to kep many specimens of copper crystal bearing rocks, many malachite specimens , even found some meteorite fragments . Well worth the time and money. Sean was a great guide and even assisted me in collecting due to my disability. I highly recommend this tour if you are a beginner even advanced collector because he knows where you can and where you can't.

Our guide, Sean is a knowledgable, passionate, and patient guide. We searched for cool rocks in 3 different locations. Sean seems to know everything about the rocks and minerals we were discovering. He also shared stories about the history of the Bisbee area, so interesting. It was a fun and informative experience. We were a group of 4 adults, I think this would also be a great thing to do as a family. There was a family with us and Sean is a natural with children. Definitely consider doing this when you are in Bisbee.

My 13 year old son and I just did the 2 hour tour this morning. It was the highlight of our trip. The guide has an amazing knowledge base and is eager to help everyone on the tour. If you're expecting a Sedona Jeep Tour -like experience, this is not your jam. This is a no-frills affair, but we loved it. How can you not enjoy treasure hunting for two hours and learning all about the minerals and mines in Bisbee! Everywhere we went (3 stops) was accessible by any vehicle or you can ride with the guide. The individual sites were easy to walk.

Unfortunately, the host never showed up. When he returned my call 2O minutes after the call, he was confused about the time of day and was clearly not able to take a family out searching for and teaching about rocks, much less hold a conversation. He did however agree to provide a full refund but felt the need to call me a cruel name. I would book with caution.
