Appreciate art like a collector with a visit to the Borghese Gallery and Gardens. Carefully controlled entry means that unlike the nearby Vatican Museums, this collection of masterpieces is never crowded. The gallery includes pieces by Raphael and Bernini, and the tour includes the Borghese Gardens: a peaceful oasis amid the chaos of the capital.

Galleria Borghese
Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned both the Villa Borghese itself and many of the great works still on display in its gallery. Works by Bernini, Caravaggio and Titian remain in their original settings, as envisioned by the Cardinal, a fiercely determined collector. Strictly controlled entry to the Villa and Gallery can make booking difficult and complicated. On this fully-guided tour you’ll hear more about Cardinal Borghese’s quest to complete his collection, and the stories behind the artworks themselves, including Bernini’s ‘Apollo and Daphne’, Canova’s ‘Pauline Bonaparte’, Caravaggio’s ‘St. Jerome’ and Raphael’s ‘The Deposition’. Your guide will be an English-speaker and an expert on the collection, and audio headsets ensure you’ll hear every word they say.
Villa Borghese Gardens
Included in this tour is a visit to the Borghese Gardens: once the Cardinal’s private park, now a favorite spot for locals to relax among sculptures, plants and water features and get away from it all.

Fantastic tour guide! Couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. She was so knowledgeable and we really enjoyed her explanations of the Bernini sculptures and the Caravaggio paintings.

Bourghese museum is beautiful. Worth the visit. Going with Viator allowed us to bypass the huge line. It's only 2 hours, maybe not worth $100 but I still recommend it. You can take a little small train ride through the park for $4.00..relaxing and very pretty.

I would have given this a 5 star rating as the experience itself was unforgettable. However, Viator changed the start time on our online tickets and confirmation email, resulting in us (and others) wasting two hours on our one day in Rome waiting for the tour to begin. On return, I asked for compensation but they gaslit me by denying their actions despite us having all the supporting documents to the contrary. I found this to be very unprofessional and frankly duplicitous. So I can’t recommend using Viator - in case you find yourself in this position too. Instead, I recommend booking directly with the Gallery.

So much art and architecture to enjoy. Our guide Barbara was knowledgeable about each piece. It was stunning to see the historic works and learn the stories behind them. So grateful to Barbara for a fantastic tour!
