This full-day Rome tour secures timed entry to two of the city's most difficult tickets to obtain independently: the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum. Both sell out weeks in advance, and booking logistics can be complex. Your expert English-speaking guide leads a small group of no more than 20 through the Vatican's gallery halls, into the Sistine Chapel, and across the Roman Forum before stepping inside the ancient amphitheater. Between these two landmarks, a guided walk takes in Piazza Navona, the Pantheon exterior, and the Trevi Fountain, with private transportation connecting the Vatican to the city center so there is no navigating public transit mid-day. This tour is ideal for first-time visitors to Rome who want to cover the city's essential sights in one well-paced day, with all logistics handled.

A valid government-issued ID is required for entry into the Colosseum and Vatican. The name on your tickets must match the name on your government-issued ID or you will be refused entry.

Vatican Museums
Meet your guide just outside the Vatican Museums entrance on Viale Vaticano, where you'll check in and receive your timed entry tickets. Once inside, your guide leads you through the Candelabra Gallery, Gallery of Tapestries, and Gallery of Maps, pointing out key works of Roman and Greek art along the way.
Sistine Chapel
Still inside the Vatican complex, you'll move into the Sistine Chapel for one of the most awe-inspiring moments of the day. Your guide prepares you in advance with stories about Michelangelo's ceiling frescoes, including The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment, before you step inside to take it all in.

Bogdan was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and fun. He guided us flawlessly through Rome on all our stops. Offering great insights and tidbits about everything we saw. He answered questions, was patient, funny, and remained calm navigating 20 people through the city. A wonderful experience that I highly recommend. Bogdan is the best!!

This tour is intense--we walked more than 20,000 steps--so be prepared for a full day. But our guide Monica was wonderful and provided for a wonderful experience. I highly recommend.

Our guide, Paola was wonderful and so very knowledgeable. She is easy to understand and a delightful person. We wished we had more time at some locations such as the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, but you can't do it all in one day. At least we saw these things. I recommend this tour to anyone who has a very short time in Rome.

Carolina was amazing, she knew everything and more and she knew so much about the history that we were so grateful. Thank you Carolina for your time and your knowledge.

It is a lot of walking and many stairs. Bring water and a hat. Do not choose this tour if you are not physically fit. Make sure you have the itinerary with you and Viator’s contact information in case you get lost from your group.

First, Maria was an excellent tour guide. There was so much to cover and she kept us all moving. If you’re in Rome for a short time this is an excellent way to see The Vatican, Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, The Forum, and The Colosseum. Wear your comfy walking shoes.

Let me just say that all in all it was a very informative tour but there were some issues. Firstly, it was not disclosed how much walking was involved and I believe this would have been really helpful to gauge what we are able to tolerate. Also, I think it is a shame that they barely gave us time to take photos in places like the Trevi fountain or Piazza Navona and the time spent telling us the details and history could have been shortened to accommodate this. Finally, although the tour clearly did not include entry to St. Peter's Basilica or the Pantheon, it would have been nice if they mentioned that we would NOT have time (even 30 min) to explore these places on our own either. So although we came out of this well informed (which I am grateful for), we were exhausted walking 2 miles and had to return to the sights to really enjoy them.
