5.00I was lucky enough to spend this morning with Mak. We went from landmark to landmark, some visiting, many just passing by. Over three and a half hours he provided descriptions and explanations of everything along the way. What was most poignant, however, were the places and stories associated with Mak's life - where he grew up with his family, how they escaped during the fighting, the lengths his parents went to to protect him, and how he lives today. This is a tour for people who are interested both in the general history of the city, but more especially in the often tragic history of Sarajevo over the past 40 years. I don't know how many guides that Art & Tours has doing this, but Mak is the one you should ask for. Mak has a masters degree in international relations and has thought deeply about the complex history, politics, and cultural forces of Yugoslavia, the Balkans, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Mak provides both the objective context of all that's gone on as well as his own personal story of living through it all. Not to be missed.

His real and personal experiences of living through the war, fleeing with brother and mother to Switzerland as a refugee combined with this incredible knowledge was just awesome. Mr. Mak was an exceptional driver. We had a personal tour with 4 family members and it was great. Highly recommended!! Thank you Mr. Mak and Art and Tours of Sarajevo.

5.00What a great tour! I’ve probably done more than one hundred local tours over the last 5 years and this is definitely one of the best short tours I’ve ever done. Mak is a truly passionate guide and presents the info you need, along with a unique ability to weave in some personal experiences. If you only have time for one tour in Sarajevo, this is the one you want.
