5.00An excellent tour and one of the highlights of my time in Sarajevo. This was genuinely a small group experience, with just me and one other guest, which made it feel very personal. Mak took us around the areas where he grew up and shared his experiences as both a refugee and a returnee. Hearing his firsthand perspective gave me a much deeper understanding of the conflict and how it continues to shape Sarajevo today. The tour was well paced throughout. We covered a lot without ever feeling rushed, explanations were clear and engaging, and there was flexibility to adjust timings when needed. It felt more like spending the day with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a tour. I would strongly recommend this tour to any visitor to Sarajevo. Understanding what happened here is an important part of appreciating the city, and this tour provides that insight in a thoughtful and memorable way.

5.00We recently did the Sarajevo war tour with Mak as our guide, and it was one of the most moving and impactful tours I’ve ever experienced. As a survivor of the siege himself, Mak brought an incredibly personal and powerful perspective that you simply cannot get from a history book. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and explained the complex history of Sarajevo and Bosnia in such a thoughtful, balanced, and engaging way. What made the tour truly unforgettable was his willingness to share his own experiences and memories from the war. Hearing these stories firsthand brought to life the reality faced by so many people in Sarajevo during that time. Mak is an inspiring and incredibly strong person, and we felt very privileged to learn from him. The tour was emotional, eye-opening, and deeply human — an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Sarajevo.

5.00Seeing the sites of Sarajevo with our guide Mak was not only enlightening it was also very emotional. To see the tunnel of hope, the war damaged houses, the roses on the sidewalks and then to hear the impact on our guide as a young child was very moving. You cannot come to Sarajevo and not hear the stories as you see the history.

5.00Truly, one of the most informative and incredibly well done tours, I have done in my 67 years traveling extensively. Mak is an incredible, informal diplomat, sharing from a deeply personal place with an absolute knowledge of history over the many centuries. Who’s understanding of the human condition for exceeds his youth. I only wish I could have recorded the whole four hours as it would be something I want to hear again and certainly share with those who have not had the opportunity to be here.
