The best experience to know Sarajevo from the point of view of who survived the war. It was a unique tour that is very worth taking. Our guide is the best!

What an incredible tour! My guide, Alan, was a child living in Sarajevo at the time of the siege so was able to provide a personal account of his family’s experience during the war, which was harrowing but fascinating. The tour takes you on a big drive around the city so I got to see lots more parts than I would’ve on foot, including some neighbourhoods of the Republika Srpska. I have been to most European countries now and done a walking tour in almost all. This was easily one of the best tours I’ve ever done. I can’t praise Alan enough for his knowledge, friendliness and dedication. Incredible.

I would strongly recommend this trip to anyone interested in Bosnian history (past 500 years) with a strong concentration on the last war. Our tour guide Mak left no stone unturned and was able to share he and his family’s personal experiences in escaping and eventually returning to Sarajevo.

This tour is a must! Mak's lived experience that he shares helped us to understand the history of what him and his people went through in a very rough period in history. We didn't know much about that part of history and Mak was open and taught us so much. Sarajevo is a beautiful with a rich hisotry and Mak brings that to life for you. Also, he guided us to the best chevapi shop in Sarajevo once the tour was done so he can do no wrong in our eyes.

This was a moving and amazing tour. Mak is fantastic. He was beyond generous in sharing his life story and experience during the Siege and the aftermath. You will learn a lot as well as seeing both beautiful and shocking sites. I recommend this to anyone, but be aware of how traumatic the Siege was.

Extraordinary experience! Mak is an amazing tour guide. His detailed personal accounts from his childhood were heart gripping. He helped us understand the political climate, and the Siege of the city. Tour stops felt so vivid and resolute. We will never forget this experience.

My husband and I took the Roses of Sarajevo tour with Mak today - and it was a truly eye-opening experience. He took us to many places all over Sarajevo that were and still are affected by the war, and interspersed that with many very personal anecdotes, bringing the war and its aftermath into clear focus. The Tunnel of Salvation is a definite must see even if you don't take this tour, but for sure it's a most complete experience if you have a guide like Mak!

This tour was amazing, I'm so glad we did it! Our guide Mak was very informative, and as a survivor of the war, was able to share his own personal accounts and experiences of the time before, during, and after the conflict. It's also eye-opening to see and learn about the current state of the country. The highlights of the tour were the Tunnel of Salvation museum, the Olympic bobsled track, the yellow fortress, and of course, Mak!
