Snowmobiling at night in Lapland offers a unique perspective — riding through silent, snow-covered forests under the Arctic sky, with the chance to see the Northern Lights above.

With Arctic GM, the experience focuses on quality and comfort: small groups, quieter routes away from mass tourism, experienced guides, and premium equipment.

Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s.

Your evening begins with pickup and transfer to a private base. After instructions, you’ll set off on snowmobiles shared between two guests, with a driver switch during the ride. The route includes around 2 hours of driving through forests and open landscapes, far from city lights.

Stops are made to enjoy the surroundings and check the sky — if conditions are favorable, the Northern Lights may appear. After the ride, warm up with hot drinks and light snacks.

This tour is not available for children younger than 6 years old

The driver of a snowmobile must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license (class B)

The driver must be able to present the driving license and sign a liability waiver

Each snowmobile fits two; solo riders must buy two tickets for their own ride

Travel insurance and other emergencies are not included

What To Expect

Rovaniemi

Begin your evening with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and transfer by a modern heated vehicle to Arctic GM’s private snowmobile base, located in a quiet forest area away from busy tourist routes. On arrival, you’ll be provided with thermal overalls, helmets, and all necessary equipment. Your guide will give clear safety instructions and demonstrate how to operate the snowmobiles before departure. You will then set off on a guided snowmobile ride, with approximately 2 hours of driving through snow-covered forests and open Arctic terrain on private land. Snowmobiles are shared between two guests, with a driver change during the ride so both can experience driving. Along the way, stops are made in carefully selected locations to enjoy the surroundings, take photos, and check the sky for Northern Lights when conditions allow. After returning to base, warm up with hot drinks and light snacks before the transfer back to Rovaniemi.
