Skyline Drive
Skyline Drive is a scenic roadway in Cañon City, Colorado. It was built by inmate labor in 1905.[1] The road starts from U.S. Highway 50, with a gradual incline up the side of a ridge. When the road crests, it winds, climbs, and falls like a roller coaster until near its end, where a scenic outlook overlooks both the city (east) and the highway (west). The single-lane, one-way road rises about 800 feet above the surrounding terrain. There are no guardrails despite sharp drop offs, and the drive is about 3 miles long.

We had an awesome time out in the gorge and surrounding areas. Our guide, Coach, knew his stuff and kept us as entertained as the terrain we were driving through. We will be back for a full day tour on the next go around.

We had the pleasure of having Jeanine take us on the tour. Being from Colorado we were very much interested not only in the beautiful country and terrain but also in the history of the area. She was a wealth of knowledge in this regard. She could not only handle the terrain but also all my questions. Colorado Jeep Tours has permission to go to places and lookout points that you can't go to otherwise. I'd recommend this tour to anyone from Colorado or from out of town. It was every but as cool as the train ride if not more.

The tour was fantastic. Our guide DeDe was very knowledgeable and put an emphasis on safety while giving us the full jeep adventure. The tour was very scenic and the highlight included crossing the Royal Gorge Bridge by jeep, the rough climb to Sunset Point, and especially the travel on the Skyline Drive. Wow this trip was amazing. Thank you.

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like royalty this is the tour for you! Staff take care of your every need, and provide excellent information on a wide variety of topics. You’ll get wind in your hair, some rugged off-roading, magnificent views and the ability to pass through gates that are not available to the general public. Can’t wait to go back and try some of their other tours.

ce! We had an amazing time with Colorado Jeep Tours in Cañon City, Colorado! Our driver and guide, Scot, did a fantastic job showing us the beautiful backcountry, stunning mountain views, and the breathtaking Royal Gorge. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area’s history, geology, and wildlife, which made the tour both fun and educational. Scot’s passion for Colorado truly came through, and he made sure we felt safe, comfortable, and entertained the entire time. We highly recommend requesting him if you’re booking a tour! If you’re looking to experience the true beauty of Colorado from places you can’t get to on your own, this is the way to go. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing experience with Colorado Jeep Tours! Our guide, Scott, was fantastic—super knowledgeable about the area, history, and geology, and he made the entire tour engaging from start to finish. The absolute highlight was getting to drive across the Royal Gorge Bridge—something only Colorado Jeep Tours is able to offer. It was such a unique and unforgettable experience to ride across the bridge with those breathtaking views. We also loved the stop at Skyline Drive—the scenic views were unbelievable, and seeing the dinosaur prints up close was outstanding. The combination of history, natural beauty, and fun off-road adventure made this tour well worth it. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend booking with Colorado Jeep Tours—you won’t be disappointed!

We started our day at the check in with Jennifer (I’m sorry if that’s the incorrect name) and she was an absolute pleasure to talk to as she was checking us in and giving us some recommendations for the area. Super accommodating with changes and easy directions to follow to get to the meeting point. We were introduced to our guide *Richard* who was an amazing tour guide! He was so friendly, engaging us with so much cool facts and stories along the entire tour. He made sure we were safe and comfortable the entire trip. We met another lovely couple on our tour and it truly made the experience feel special as we were chatting along the way and joking around with Richard. Now the view along the tour was absolutely stunning and what made for an even better day was how perfect the weather was that morning. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone and will be returning in the near future with our kids to enjoy some of the other tours this company has to offer. Thank you again for this wonderful experience!

The overall experience was incredible! The views and the history of the area provided by our very informative guide was spectacular. However, the VIP treatment of going places others are not allowed made us feel super special. This tour is worth every cent and I hope you are fortunate to get Russ as your guide. Russ ROCKS!!

Tour w/ Zip Line...HIGHLY recommend this tour. Hopefully, you'll get Coach as your tour guide. He was a wealth of information!!! The zip line is incredible. Relax, look around, and enjoy the quick trip to the other side. The tour didn't end there!! I just wish we could've remembered every little detail he told us.
