We loved our tour of Leon and the surrounding area! We are staying in Managua, and found this company by doing a little research online. We completed a tour of Managua and decided to book another tour, this time to Leon. Because of our age, we weren’t too interested in sledding down a volcano, which does sound fun, but we were hoping for a more cultural experience. Our guide, Anthony, who is also fantastic, took us to see the old town ruins, a lakeside mirador, fumaroles, and then into the ‘new’ town of Leon for a fantastic lunch and a final tour of the famous cathedral. It was a great experience and we highly recommend this company! We’ve already booked our third excursion with them!

I recently took a tour from Managua to Leon called, “Ruins of Leon, Hervideros de San Jacinto and Ciudad de Leon,” run by NicaParadiseTours. The tour, which lasted from breakfast to dinner, was excellent, and also included a visit to some active fumeroles, and the Sandinista Museum in Leon. It was very much what I wanted! It was a personal tour – just me and the guide/drive Julio Cesar, although maybe a couple other people in the group would have been OK. At any rate, I was free to adjust the tour to fit my needs. I immediately liked Julio, my guide, and we got along fine. He was a good companion and full of information. I would be happy to have him as a guide again if I ever come back. I would also be interested in any other tours that Nica provides. They are worth giving a look.

We really enjoyed this day spent visiting the ruins of Leon, San Jacinto and its pots of boiling mud. The cathedral of Leon is surprising with its walk on the roof. Our guide even agreed to make a detour to Managua to Flor de caña Boutique where we found a 25 year old rum.
