What To Expect

This experience explains the distilling process at Sarina Sugar Shed, from the crushing of the cane to distilled cane spirit that creates our rum and liqueurs. Tasting includes an exclusive selection of Rum or Rum liqueurs not available on our regular tour. Running daily at 12pm, enjoy this tour on its own, or packaged with our 11am or 12.30pm Sugar Shed tour for the complete experience! This is a great experience for dedicated rum lovers or those interested in finding out more about the rum distilling process from sugar cane juice to the finished product! NOTE - Age 18+ only

Fantastic, very interesting, lots of fun, friendly knowledgeable people and really nice food at cafe. For 6 weeks we have wondered about the sugar cane production and now we know!

This was pretty interesting and there are lots of things to sample. Our tour leader Julie was lovely and offered lots of insight and information. The sampling of the liquors, jams and chutneys was good too.

Great tour guide extremely knowledgeable. Downside the facility is owned by the Mackay Regional Council who do not have enough space to store the rum. Hence there was only some available to taste but none to buy at all. The distillery tour was in the same space as the sugar shed tour and comprised of being informed that this is the still, explained how the rum is made and have a tasting . Quite expensive for what it was.

The tour of the sugar shed and distillery was brilliant. Very informative and Betty was a fantastic guide. Great personality and very knowledgeable and made the tour extremely enjoyable. Highly recommend.

One of the best tours we’ve done, great value for money, informative and fun. Clara was outstanding, explained the process in layman’s terms and got the whole group involved.

Fantastic day we had and was really interesting, all the ladies were wonderful asking if we would like cold water to drink, umbrella for shade, very helpful 😀 husband was really interested about harvest of sugar as we are both from agricultural background in Scotland. Tasting experience was exceptional truly 5 star experience, well done to all staff 😊

Fantastic tour and so much interesting information , we just take sugar for granted, I had no idea what the process involved. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the canteen had an amazing menu. Highly recommended
