From the first contact Thanut responded almost immediately and every time afterwards. He's local, grew up in Siem Reap, and speaks perfect English. Speaks clear and loud and enough to easily hear him, yet quiet enough to be respectful of the sites. He will customize your itinerary to suit your interests and your time schedule, and shows you all the hidden treasures within the sites that other guides don't both to show. He always takes a few minutes to help you take memorable photos, using all the special features in your phone. All his stops are carefully picked for clean washrooms, and if you need some food he picks local food stops that are "safe" for tourists to eat at. Not only does he take you through the countryside, he tells you what it was like growing up in the area, and how the area is changing. He really cares about making your tour memorable, going above and beyond. We told him how much we loved the red dragon fruit, so one morning he showed up with a bag of red dragon fruit as a gift. After the water village tour he took us to a lotus farm where there were several cool floating private dinning rooms. The food was very local, very safe to eat, and absolutely delicious. And after that he offered to take us back for a snack of the local treat "Nom akor tnout", a palm cake, which was so good we asked to go back to the old village to try it again. This was an extra request, and he did it as a gesture of friendship, and there was no additional charge for the extra stop. He even gave us some to take back to the hotel for late night snacking. That's how thoughtful he is. After a day with Thanut you will feel like your are hanging out in Cambodia with your best friend. Thank you Thanut for such a wonderful experience.

Travelling alone I was looking for a tour in Siem Reap that would teach me about authentic local village life. As a keen photographer, I wanted to capture everyday scenes of Cambodian people living beyond the usual tourist areas. After some searching, I discovered Thanut Tours — one of the few experiences that takes you truly off the beaten path. Thanut, a courteous and relaxed local from a nearby village, was my personal guide for the morning. His excellent English and deep knowledge of Siem Reap’s countryside made this tour absolutely perfect for what I was looking for. Throughout the tour, I watched locals planting rice in the paddies, water buffalo lounging along the banks, and farmers harvesting fresh vegetables. We visited a rice wine distillery, fishery, mushroom farm, and a beautiful lotus farm where I sampled delicious Cambodian food. Walking through a local market gave me a wonderful glimpse into daily life — so much more authentic than the typical tourist stops. We also visited a stunning, lesser-known temple where I learned about Buddhist monks and traditional cremation practices. The monks were welcoming and it was inspiring to see them working together. I captured so many great photos, and Thanut patiently answered all my questions, sharing fascinating insights about village life in Siem Reap. If you’re looking for a unique, intimate experience that shows you the real Cambodia, book Thanut Tours. It was one of the highlights of my trip — truly five stars!

Our trip to Cambodia was AMAZING! I cannot recommend Thanut more highly. We are experienced travelers who gravitate towards getting as close as we can to the country we are visiting -- and you can only do that with a tour guide that knows the hidden gems! Thanut crafted a wonderful (and flexible!) itinerary that included people, food and places that felt incredibly special and authentic to Cambodia. We left having had the best time and wanting to come back and explore more areas of the country -- with Thanut of course!!! He is easily one of the best guides we have ever had. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Thanut for our incredible adventure in Cambodia! ☮️❤️🇰🇭

Thanut Kean is the best tour guide we’ve had. He is a very kind and accommodating person. His tours focus on the local community in order to help them. At the same time we got a feel for the real Cambodia (Siem Reap). We did four days tour including airport pickup, Country side tour with mushroom farm, Kulin Mountain waterfall, Floating Village, City Tour, Ankor Wat and surrounding temples, food tour, and cooking class. Top notch service and a great genuine person is Thanut! His friend and fellow tour guide Voulette (nick name Omlette) was awesome and can speak Chinese Mandarin and English fluently. He is handsome and kind! Would fully recommend! Thanut and his team if you are ever in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
