Situated in a semi-arid area previously known as the Taru Desert it opened in April 1948, and is located near the town of Voi in the Taita-Taveta County of the former Coast Province. Location: Kenya Area: 13,747 km2 (5,308 sq mi) Established: 1948 In 1898, long before Tsavo National Park was created, a pair of maneless male lions terrorized the area. They reputedly killed 135 railway workers who were building the Kenya-Uganda railway. These man-eating lions dragged men from their tents, despite the thorn fences (bomas) built to keep them out. The maneless lions evaded traps and ambushes and were finally shot by Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson Tsavo East National Park is a natural area of flat, dry plains, with thorny bushes and swampy marshland near the river. It is teeming with diverse Kenyan animals including large families of giraffes, gazelles, hartebeests and zebras, as well as the "Big Five" must-see animals - buffalo, African elephants, lions, rhinos and leopard

Back yesterday from a WONDERFUL week trip to Watamu, thanks to Kish and his DESTINATION KENYA. EXCELLENT organization by Kish, serious prepared and always available with all our group, in the end he became one of us, along with his Staff. A wonderful 2 day East Tsavo Safari! Everything organized very well: 3 jeeps for 21 people wandering around the Park looking for animals, very prepared drivers and boys. The beautiful Blue Safari! 8 hours together on the boat with him and the guys of his Staff including dolphins, swimming, snorkeling and lunch with fish and lobsters on an island. Transfer from/to the airport and transfer wherever we wanted to go (we wanted to visit children at a school near Malindi). Deep knowledge of the territory: places to see, places to try etc... We will definitely stay again! If you are going to Kenya to Watamu for Safari and/or vacation contact Kish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Katia.

The most wonderful experience at the Tsavo East National Park thanks to Alberto, Edison and Ali Baba. If you’re going to Kenya, you must visit and you must do it with them. Beware of multiple people offering you safaris, including your hotel, as these can be more expensive. Alberto is fully transparent, honest and will help You every step of the way. Italian and English speakers guides available. +254 736 115282. The safari was very fun, and the hotel where we stayed at the park was amazing. 10/10 organisation from Alberto

I recommend this wonderful experience on January 1 and 2, 2026. I had booked initially by Trip advisor for me and my 7 year old daughter (and paying, it was written 0 euros for my daughter. The next day, the organizer via Trip advisor asked me the same amount for my daughter. I cancelled and got a refund). I got in touch with Omar (+254 716 157670) who is recommended on Facebook by other French. Everything went great. He's trusted. Everything was well organized. I went through him to do the Safari 2 days and the Blue Safari. He's been in care. I saw lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, antelope... and on the blue Safari, we saw dolphins, ate lobsters. Great memories. I loved Kenya and its 2 excursions and thank you Omar for all this. Déborah, 46 and her daughter, 7 (department 50)
