What To Expect
Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Saigon Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

5.00My wife and I pre booked the tour via our UK travel agent. We were meet at the port in Ho Chi Minh by Liam our tour guide and Mr T the driver. Both guys were exceptional. Very friendly , professional and knowledgeable about the sites we saw. I would highly recommend the company and specifically ask for Liam and Mr T if you can First class day

5.00We had a wonderful tour of Ho Chi Minh City. Our guide Harry was very knowledgeable of Vietnam history and culture. We enjoyed visits to the National Palace, National Museum, and Chinese Pagoda. We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant . We also had a great coffee break with famous Vietnamese egg coffee. Very informative day!

5.00Our tour with Tien (Harry) was excellent and top notch. He was easy going and is very knowledgeable on the history, culture and way of life in Vietnam. Everything was scheduled just right and everyone enjoyed their time with him. Lunch and coffee was excellent. He is also a nice guy and thoughtful of his clients. We would recommend Tien to anyone touring in Saigon.

5.00Our tour guide Hao met us at the port, he was great at contacting us to let us know where to meet him and he was easy to find. We toured Saigon’s highlights including the palace, the post office, the war museum, the market, a place making lacquered goods, a pagoda, and a great coffee shop. Hao was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable about the history and places we visited. His stories and personal experiences brought the tour to life. Thanks Hao for a very memorable day. I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00We had an amazing day in Saigon. Our tour guide Hao was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We visited a pagoda, the palace, the post office, the market, a place which makes lacquered goods and a great coffee shop. Hao really brought the tour to life with his local knowledge and stories. I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00We had an amazing time in Saigon with Tony on a private tour. He really made our day by showing us around Saigon and making sure we had the opportunity to try authentic street food, local beer and Vietnamese coffee. We saw the Independence Palace, War Remnants Museum, Post Office and the flower markets and a special trip to the Ben Thanh market so we could buy some coffee beans. Tony was very knowledgeable and looked after us so well all day. Also a special mention to the driver for navigating us safely through the crazy Vietnamese traffic!
