With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

We had a fantastic experience on the food tour. Sean was an excellent guide - welcoming, warm & incredibly knowledgeable about the local food scene and culture. He made everyone feel comfortable from the start and shared interesting insights throughout the tour. The food itself was outstanding, with a great variety of dishes that showcased the diversity of Malaysian cuisine. Every stop offered something different, from savoury local favourites to delicious sweet treats. The tour also introduced us to places we would never have discovered on our own.

Great experience. Informed and updated each step. SMS contact leading up and on the day. Punctual and accurate meeting location. Sean guided us a group of 7 through the local back streets of KL. Introducing us to local Fruits & Vegetables and into the wet market before commencing our tastings. A great variety of tastes and textures. Not all tastings appealing to all, me included. Sean giving us insight and history on each destination. Food quality was excellent, food presentation was as one would for hawkers food, very authentic. Spice levels were mild and one could heat it up as required. Sweet and savoury tastings, local fruits intertwined through the evening. Sean catered to any food restrictions at each location. More than substantial amounts of food. If you required more Sean was happy to provide it. Left overs at most locations. The evening finished with the BEST mango smoothie. Delectable!! If you don’t like Mango Sean will assist with an alternative. Sean assisted each group on directions to their locations, even walking 10 minutes until reaching a direct route home. Wonderful evening. Great due individuals, couples or groups. Highly recommended.
