There were two of us and our guide really did everything great. He's had a lot of experience and you could feel it. Definitely recommended. 👍🏻

It was an incredible experience to drive either in the dunes. John gives very good talkie explanations for driving. We were not sure what to expect and the surprise was even more pleasant. I recommend if you like adventure! Sensations guaranteed!!

We were met by our guide Hans, in Walvis Bay. He led the way with his vehicle, and we followed in ours. First visiting the salt mines, to get a hang of sand driving, then we pushed on due south. Saw some wildlife before hitting the dunes around 2/3rds to Sandwich Harbour. I got stuck in the soft sand once, but Hans is a very experienced guide, we were mobile again in no time. He guided us through the narrow corridor where sea meets dunes, and suddenly, we were at Sandwich Harbour! Incredible views, the weather played along. On our way back to Walvis Bay, we went in the dunes for some exhilarating dune driving. Absolutely awesome to go up to the top of the dunes, and then steep descent on the other side. We stopped at the red dunes, Hans showed us the iron content of the sand, very interesting. Then pushed on back to base, re-inflated our tyres to mark the end of an experience to remember forever. Thanks to Hans and Pelgrim Tours for this unforgettable experience!

Absolutely GREAT! One of the highlights of entire trip to Namibia. Important note: this was much much more fun as we drove our own car. John was leading and guiding as in a second car. We had fantastic time, drove on the beach and on many dunes. The views were fantastic, just like from another world. Highly recommended, must do in Namibia.

Our driver, JP, shared a lot of interesting information along the way. We saw Springbok, Jackals, a few seals, Flamingos, Pelicans, and a small gecko in the sand. I had no prior experience driving a 4x4 on sand. JP offered plenty of advice and was properly equipped to pull our vehicle free the two times I managed to get it stuck in soft sand. The drive to the harbor was beautiful and driving over the dunes is a great thrill that was tailored to my comfort level. I highly recommend the self drive experience for those with a capable 4x4 vehicle and the desire to put it to work.

extraordinary driving lesson of 4X4 in the dunes with spectacular passages. We drive in the sea mist as close as possible to the waves, climb the dunes with our foot to the floor and we dive in a descent without seeing the bottom of the slope. And the man who takes you knows perfectly the nature and wildlife of his country and makes you enjoy it.
