The weather and early season meant that I had a personal guided tour of Sarajevo’s old town. Alen was an excellent young guide! He told the story of Europe’s Jerusalem extremely well, and he also gave me some gift ideas and eatery recommendations. Thanks again for a great tour!

Even though it has been a month and I have experienced many other interesting things in the meantime, this walk through the old town of Sarajevo still stays with me. Thanks to Arna's excellent guidance, it was one of the most impressive experiences of my long journey through the Balkans. Arna told us a lot about the war in the nineties and its effects on the coexistence of different groups. It was not a narrative like from a history book, but rather from a person who experienced the war firsthand and is still processing this lived story. You can definitely tell that she cares a lot about peaceful coexistence, even if that is not always easy. Thank you very much, Arna, for this wonderful tour! The next day, we happened to meet her again in the city (we were sitting in a café by the roadside), and she came back to us with a sweet specialty that she wanted us to try. That was extremely nice!

Did the Meet Bosnia free walking tour with Kiki and it was the best possible way to start our time in Sarajevo. Easy five stars. Kiki is a force — energetic, funny, and genuinely passionate about her city. Her storytelling pulled us through the Ottoman bazaar, the "Sarajevo meeting of cultures" line, the Latin Bridge, and the Austro-Hungarian quarter without a single dull moment. She has a real talent for layering the history — Ottoman, Habsburg, Yugoslav, the siege years, and modern Sarajevo — into something that actually makes sense, with personal stories and humour woven in throughout. She handled the heavier chapters of the city's recent history with honesty and grace, but kept the overall tour warm and engaging. Two hours flew by. We left with a much deeper understanding of Sarajevo, a list of places to go back to, and some excellent food and coffee tips.

Took this tour on a whim and was so happy I did. Edin had so much passion for the history of the old town and I learned a lot. He really used the built environment to tell the story of the area over time and had particular (infectious!) enthusiasm for the meeting of cultures and religions in the area over time. Highly recommend as a starting point to a trip to Sarajevo. Such a great way to learn about the fascinating history beyond just the modern conflict.
