White Fortress (Bijela tabija), Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Start your journey with a visit to one of Sarajevo’s most scenic viewpoints. The White Fortress, originally built in the 16th century, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city. From here, your guide will introduce the story of Sarajevo’s strategic position throughout history — from Ottoman times to the Siege of Sarajevo.

Visit the neighborhood where your local guide lived during the war. This area, located near the former maternity hospital that was heavily bombed, witnessed some of the harshest days of the Siege of Sarajevo. Here you will hear a deeply personal story — about childhood under siege, daily survival, and life surrounded by constant shelling. This stop includes a visit to the place where the guide’s father was buried, as well as the very street where he grew up and used to play during the war.

Suvad was an amazing tour guide throughout the week!! His impressive knowledge of history coupled with his friendliness and great sense of humour made the immersive tour enjoyable and so memorable! He shared detailed information in a light, easygoing way but I have come away having learnt so much rich history which I appreciate. His personal anecdotes made the tour extra special. From the Sarajevo Old Town, Mostar, Konjic to Srebrenica, Suvad knows it all! I’m excited to come back to Bosnia to explore more! Thank you so much, Suvad! 😄

Suvad was a fantastic tour guide! He is filled to the brim with knowledge and expertise on Bosnian history, culture and cuisine. It was really emotional hearing his personal first-hand story of his family and how they lived through the genocide. It makes you realise how fairly recent it all was and makes you really reflect on the ongoing wars in the world today too. Despite all that he and his family have gone through, Suvad was asuch a friendly and cheerful tour guide who welcomes you to ask questions and learn more! Highly recommend! :)

I would like to thank the tour guide Ago, with whom I also did a free walking tour the day before. A great experience, without him the city and his country would never have come so close to me! A unique testimony of those who experienced the war firsthand, with many curiosities. An excellent Italian to fully understand every sadness of those 90s. Super recommended for those who want to know a cross-section of history that is very often overlooked.

We had 2 private tours of Sarajevo and Mostar, lead by Suvad. He was absolutely amazing at explaining the history behind Bosnia and Herzegovina and the recent war which his family were directly affected by. Suvad is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our questions. Throughout our trip he ensured we were taken care of and regularly checked up on us. Couldn’t recommend this tour group enough!!
