This is a true Bucketlist Experience! The heat. The cold. The darkness. The silence, broken only by the sound of water droplets hitting the mine’s groundwater, 80 meters below.

And the respect. The Lady of the Mine must be honored. Three knocks on the rock to announce your arrival—a tradition dating back to the 1400s and still practiced today. The mine is a space for balance between her and us.

The ritual begins with this respect, accompanied by Swedish and Sami music. The heat in the sauna is intense, so powerful that our bodies steam as we step out into the crystal-clear, drinkable water, which glows with a turquoise hue due to its high lime content.

The "Lady of the Mine Sauna Ritual" offers not just physical relaxation but also a spiritual connection to the mine’s history and its folklore, blending ancient traditions with a unique sensory experience underground. It’s a one-of-a-kind adventure that leaves a lasting impression.

What To Expect

Experience the world’s most unique sauna through the transcendent lady of the mine sauna ritual, designed as a tribute to her essence that historically was an important part for the miners. Join us on a guided sauna experience where Nordic Sauna Stories, with its mystery and knowledge, will make you lose track of time and space for a while. Since ancient times, the lady of the mine has observed life in the mine. The legend says that the lady of the mine watched over the mine and could warn of upcoming dangers or show where the large deposits were. Today’s deposits are no longer the ore in the rock, the wealth is now found in the mine’s adventure experiences where the lady of the mine sauna ritual is the latest of the deposits. An epic contrast to life above ground! Your senses will travel from heat to cool, from soft to hard and from darkness to light at the same time as the endorphins flow in your body. Feel the history flow through the tunnels of the mountain while wondering how you will ever be able to bathe in a normal sauna again! A unique and memorable experience. The raw, unembellished mine with the stairs that just continue down into the darkness, the lack of guardrails, the massive spaces, the uneven stone paths you walk on... The sauna is good, high level of everything and gives some kind of crescendo on the tour, but it is above all the mountain that made an impression on me.
